Notes on Impact! ratings on Fox Sports Net, theory on pay per view buys
On Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 3:10 PM EST - Since the debut of TNA Impact! on Fox Sports Net in June of 2004, consistant ratings for the events have been hard to get seeing as Fox Sports Net tracks ratings by market and not nationally.
Based on what is known, Impact! on Friday afternoons has been averaging a 0.25 cable rating nationally (which translates to around 215,000 homes). Since the addition of replays on Friday nights at 2am and Saturday nights at midnight, those shows have been averaging a reported 0.25 cable rating as well. Some major markets have even been coming in as high as a 1.0 cable rating, roughly 860,000 homes. It should be noted that this past Friday's edition was the most viewed episode of Impact! to date.
In theory, if these same viewers are watching all three weekly airings of Impact! then TNA could as much as triple their monthly PPV buys from 30,000 (roughly a $360,000 gross for TNA) to close to 90,000 buys (roughly a $1,080,000 gross for TNA). Despite these rough figures, it was a major win on TNA's part to get two more additional weekly airings for Impact! at no extra cost, with the general feeling being that $30,000 for three weekly airings is a much better deal than $30,000 for only one weekly airing.
