Elix Skipper Interview: Talks about famous cage spot & working in TNA

Interview Recap of the Elix Skipper Interview from the Gerweck Report hotline

- On the subject of executing the hurricana off the top of the cage at the Turning Point PPV. Skipper stated that he was always interested in walking the top of the cage. The one thing Skipper didn't prepare for was landing in the ring. "Everything worked out for the best," said Skipper.

- After the match, Skipper admitted he was hurt. His wrist swelled up. Skipper said his knees and ankles were hurting. He said the pain went away when he heard the fans chant "best match ever," all the pain went away.

- Skipper stated that the first cage match between America's Most Wanted vs. Triple X (18 months prior) was the first match on the card because the company was experimenting with setting up and taking down the cage. Based on that match, Jeff Jarrett told the guys that the six sides of steel would be the main event of the Turning Point PPV.

- Skipper said the main event is all about what the fans want to see the most, and if its an X division match or a tag match, it should go on last.

- Skipper said there was no way he could have rehearsed the move off the top of the cage. Once the match started, he had no doubts about doing the move.

- Skipper got a great reaction from the boys when he arrived backstage after the six sides of steel match.

- He said he doesn't get a chance to see the "Impact" show since he lives in Orlando.

- Skipper said he has the heard the replay of the Turning Point did well on pay-per-view.

- "I don't really think about it," was his response to the question on how he follows up the hurricana off the top of the cage.

- Skipper was saddened by the move from Nashville to Orlando as the company had established a loyal fan base to the weekly shows. "I guess Nashville did job to Orlando," said Skipper.

- When asked about TNA branching out to a new location for a PPV, Skipper stated, "that's in the works." He has heard about new venues such as a new building in Nashville and possibly running a show in Philadelphia.

- He feels the move to a monthly PPV format was the right decision for the company.

- Skipper said he was always a big fan of wrestling growing up, and was told his size would not allow him to pursue his dream of becoming a pro wrestler.

- He said he decided to start training at WCW's Power Plant after watching the product and deciding he could do it too.

- He put over Pez Whatley as a great teacher and trainer.

- Skipper made his WCW debut against Prince Iuekea.

- It was Vince Russo's idea of putting Skipper with Lance Storm's Team Canada.

- He didn't like the idea of being given the Cruiserweight title by Storm, but Russo said, "trust me."

- Skipper put over his best match in WCW as a Saturday Night match against Billy Kidman.

- He was told by WCW that he wasn't good enough.

- After WWF purchased his WCW contract, Skipper was assigned to Cincinnati to continue to train. "I think they tried to do some things to break us and make us quit," stated Skipper.

- After nine months of training with HWA, he was released. He was told he wasn't the same after knee surgery.

- Skipper became the masked Extreme Blade in All Japan Pro Wrestling after his WWE release.

- He called Jeremy Borash of TNA between tours of All Japan, and was told he was about to call him.

- When asked about the six-sided ring, Skipper exclaimed, "I love it."

- He put over Christopher Daniels as a great tag team partner.
