Pro's from the Palace (#5) - Notes on Triple H, John Cena and UXW...
On Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 5:17 AM EST Monday night on Raw, opening segment, Trips comes out, VISIBLY ticked off, and starts hollering at the drop of a hat how he's going to beat Batista within an inch of his life. Ok. Fine, we've heard this how many times before? People out there claimed Goldberg had no creativity as champion, but haven't we been down this road of Game screaming how the world is going to come down on his opponent, meanwhile, zippo happens? Well, we get the same thing monday night. Hurricane comes out for a non-title match, gets pedigreed on the floor, and made to look like worse than a pansy, to look like road pizza, then when Batista shows up, what does the so called maniacal champion do? He throws a 58 year old legend in the path of the Animal, who swallows him whole, and spits out the carcass.
We're not even going to delve in to the topic of how badly Ric Flair is being looked upon as a character. I'll leave that for you guys. People who are out there have seen Ric Flair in his prime in WCW. Remember those days? Did you ever dream in the recesses of your mind that this legendary figure would turn in to the butt boy he has become at the hands of the World Heavyweight Champion? Tell me your opinion Click here and tell me how you think Ric Flair's character is being perceived on Raw by the audience. Best answers I'll publish in a future column.
Now, let's get back to the business at hand, the de-evolution of the character of Triple H. I may be off on these dates, and if so, correct me, please. Remember back in late 2001, when H returned from the quad on Raw at MSG? Remember the Triple H that absolutely TORE in to the Olympic Champion for interrupting his return to the WWE? Remember the Triple H that tore in to Austin with a ferocity that not even the Rattlesnake was ready for. Remember the same Game that took his ex-wife (storyline), and pedigree her all over the country to try and make a point toward his eventual title victory over Jericho at Wrestlemania?
What happened to this man? What happened to the toughest sumbitch ever to lace up boots and do what he does best in side the squared circle? I mean, really, does he need to have his ass wiped each and every night by someone else to successfully defend his title? When is Triple H going to stand up, face the music, and take on the challenge of a number one contender on his own, with nobody to help him, and nothing to back him up except his skills?
Don't tell me the quadricep was so serious that he needs to rely on other people to get the job done. I don't even think Vinnie Mac himself would accept that.
Now we've got the out right wimpiest (yes, I said WIMPIEST) chUmpion that has ever laced up the boots. 10 times World champion. You know how invalid those title reigns have become because of how this man has conducted himself as World Champion? It is a travesty.
BUT.......BUT......BUT... my friends, think of this.
Raw monday night is in my buddy Jay's neck of the woods of Charlotte, North Carolina. Right in the heart of Flair Country. Flair needs to sit back, listen to the masses, and finally get up off his keister, look Triple H in the eye, and say this, "FIGHT YOUR OWN DAMN BATTLES." He had no business, and no reason to get pummeled within an inch of his life last week, and, instead of running to his rescue, the chump hands over the 56 year old legend to the Animal for more meat for the beast. It's really pathetic. Hopefully, something big will continue to help build the road down to Wrestlemania. They need something major, they still got a month of programming to fill.
Very quick note from Smackdown, honest, I didn't watch it because when I saw the spoiler, I got mad. Orlando Jordan as the US Champion? Give me a break. John Cena better win the WWE title now. That is all I have to say about that. Oh, and one other thing, why set up Rey vs. Eddie at Wrestlemania? Aren't they more needed to defend the tag team titles then fight each other and tease a heel turn for two faces that should stay just the way they are? Kind of sad. But, let's see where this turns. I'll watch smackdown more intensely in the next few weeks leading up to Mania.
Ok. On to another deal. I wrote last week about my expeirence at UXW Genesis, and I tried as best I could to describe what had transpired to a member of the OutKast Killaz in their tag team title match with the Solution. Well, since that column, I have gotten a significant amount of email from people close to Diablo, and they asked me to report that Diablo is doing better, he may have only suffered a concussion, and he is out of the hospital. What happens next from a wrestling perspective is much too early to tell, but, the situation did not, according to my source, turn out as serious as it initially sounded.
I, and my colleagues here at Wrestleview, personally wish Diablo the best, and hope for a speedy recovery. Hopefully, down the line, I may be able to gather some more information about his condition, or his rehabiliation.
Ok. For now, it's time to fly. I'm not even sure which end is up right now.

Kimosabe, SUMO!?!?!?
(Writer's addition): I had placed a column up eariler describing my views on Ric Flair vs. Triple H in more detail back from before New Year's Revolution. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to take it down. I'll post that column on my blog if anyone is interested in reading it.
