Scott Hudson was a guest on the 3/5/05 edition of Monday Night Mayhem which can be heard in streaming audio every week exclusively on the AudioWrestling.com site!
Here are highlights from the interview provided by the show's producer Shawn Walters of MondayNightMayhem.com and AudioWrestling.com
- Its time for the monthly appearance from Monday Night Mayhem’s national correspondent, Scott Hudson of TNA!
- The conversation starts off with the whole ECW PPV bidding war for talent between WWE’s Tommy Dreamer and Shane Douglas' ECW Arena show, both taking place within days of each other in June. Scott gives Shane the edge in this war, although he feels both shows will represent “one fantastic show split into two mediocre shows”.
- After a brief discussion of WWE 24/7’s new marketing aspirations, Scott talks about his participation in Vince Russo’s wrestling show a few days prior, explaining why Tony Schiavone was unable to attend and the return of Goldylocks!
- The Big Mosh brings up the departures of Johnny Swinger and Frankie Kazarian from TNA, which Scott likens to seeing “kids go away to college” and wishes the two the best of luck. He also assures the crew that Frankie’s involvement with the whole NASCAR angle had nothing to do with him leaving TNA, since Frankie is “too much of a professional.”
- The topic of the arrivals of Sean Waltman and the New Age Outlaw (formerly Billy Gunn) is brought up, where Scott feels that NAO may be most effective as a personality rather than in the ring. Regardless, Scott is in favor of having NAO and B.G. James feud to freshen things up.
- With it being Oscar time, Mosh longs for the Ready to Rumble movie, to which Scott feels was a “positive experience but not the best moment for WCW”. He also puts over the professionalism of one David Arquette throughout the whole angle.
- Continuing on with WCW memories, Scott says he misses the WCW crew, especially Gene Okerlund and still listens to Mark Madden on ESPN radio. Angry Hero brings up Pamela “25 Take” Paulshock, to which Scott says she did what was asked of her despite having no prior wrestling experience. He also remembers the time Gene Okerlund told Sean O’Haire to “blow it out your ass!”
- Scott and the crew discuss TNA’s forthcoming PPV, Destination X, where Scott feels the Rhodes/Raven bullrope match should be enhanced by the gimmick and gives his thoughts on DDP/Jarrett.
- The segment with Scott Hudson wraps up with a rapid-fire segment, discussing TNA’s LockDown PPV in April, who Scott would want to see in the “Six Sides of Steel”, favorite SuperBrawl memories, the recent WWE Hall of Fame induction's and Hulk Hogan’s current legal troubles.
Larry Zbyszko was a guest on the 3/5/05 edition of Monday Night Mayhem which can be heard in streaming audio every week exclusively on the AudioWrestling.com site!
Here are highlights from the interview provided by the show's producer Shawn Walters of MondayNightMayhem.com and AudioWrestling.com
- The Big Mosh and Angry Hero welcome “The Living Legend” Larry Zbyszko to the program, who right off the bat gets to talking about his burgeoning golf career. He’s going to be on Golf Central and on the Senior Hooters golf circuit, to which AH asks about the “scenery”.
- Larry gets to talking about his current role in TNA, where he enjoys working with the “underdog” promotion and the younger talents, putting over AJ Styles in particular.
- Mosh and AH get into Larry’s WCW tenure, including his time as announcer (“best 10 yrs he ever asked for”), his TV title run against Lord Steven Regal, Paul Heyman and the Dangerous Alliance, the Monday Night Wars and teaming with Arn Anderson, allowing Larry to expound the finer points of “stalling” and what his perception of that is.
- AH asks Larry about his AWA days, where he found his niche and feels he got over pretty good there.
- Mosh brings up Larry’s infamous feud with Bruno Sammartino, which Larry proclaims as the “last red hot feud of the old school”.
- After talking briefly about his participation in the WarGames matches, the crew gets into Larry’s issue with Vince JUNIOR, stemming from the use of the “Living Legend” moniker for Chris Jericho, which irritated Larry and made him feel his presence was ignored. Mosh asks about Larry’s speech against Vince at the WWA PPV in 2002, saying Vince “always talks about a good fight, why not bring it?” Larry comments that he can “care less” about WWE programming, although he does comment on Vince’s injury at the Rumble and the recent Hall of Fame inductions (and lack of Bruno).
- The conversation shifts back over to Larry’s time in the AWA, discussing why the AWA did not survive the big wrestling boom of the 1980’s, how there were plans in place for a AWA vs. WCW angle in 1990, and memories of gambling with Curt Hennig.
- Larry goes on to give his thoughts on the psychology of working as a heel, how he has been able to remain relatively injury-free throughout his career, and the current status of tag team wrestling.
- MNM wraps the interview with “The Living Legend” with talk about Larry’s forthcoming book, including a humorous road story about him and Ivan Putski starting a riot in Albany and ending with him getting stabbed in the arse by a fan. The Angry Hero then tries to stump Larry with some intense wrestling trivia to end the interview!
