Pro's from the Palace (#21) - Quest: Meeting Torrie Wilson & Paul London
On Sunday, May 8, 2005 at 8:27 PM EST I had said that the quest would continue today with the autograph signing in my own home portal featuring Smackdown superstars Paul London and Torrie Wilson. Well, it is safe to say that the quest continues in a positive light in all senses of the word.
First and foremost, I have to give props to the boys at New York Sports Works for another fine event, the crowd was not totally to expectations, but with London's still neophyte status within WWE, it's only a matter of time before this man has the following that would rival that of the store's previous two guests, those being Batista and John Cena. This crowd was more die hard fans, the regulars who come out to meet everyone, like me, who is significantly deranged enough to keep this type of episode running as swiftly as it has.

London arrived first, almost non-descript, and I felt so badly for him, his resume not withstanding, he deserved a better reception that what he got. When his character and his likeness continues to rise in popularity, I am sure the pop will be there. Torrie arrived soon afterwards, looking very sparkly in a diva-esque outfift sequin silver and black, I thought she was an Oakland Raider cheerleader. :) Now, for the part where I end up getting my butt kicked again.
In the last few months, I have had the pleasure of meeting Candice, Christy, & Miss Jackie for the second time, so Torrie makes four in the past four months. Television does not do these ladies justice. Man, I am telling you, all the american males in the entire civilized country can agree on one thing.
Billy Kidman is the luckiest sum***** alive.
Now, when we went up to the table, I sent up my trio of terror, my three kids, first without anything in their hands to make sure the talent takes the time to recognize them properly. We were first in line, so we had a slight advantage. Sure enough, both Torrie and Paul took the time to say hi to each of them, and that continues to amaze me. You have to believe that people in their lines of work would deal with kids like mine on a day in day out basis, and to take the extra effort to be courteous to a man's children, well, it's a gesture well remembered.
I brought my own set of blingage for Paul to sign, a replica of the WWE Tag Team Championship, and a replica of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. We had a good minute or two conversation while he signed both belts for me. I could comment on his signature, it being a little smaller than what I am used to, but hey, signatures are signatures. One small downer in this deal:
No sign of Paul's signature boots or fur coat.
I know I've said this a million times before, but I mean it, and I'm going to say it again and again till you guys get it. If you want to experience a small touch in to the celebrity world, meet a WWE Superstar. It is obvious of one thing, Vince makes sure that each and everyone of these talents realize that the reason they are in business are people like you and me going to the events, buying the merch, and showing the love. These men and women do the job right of representing the company, in every aspect, and I must give them their props.
A very sincere thank you to the boys at New York Sports Works for their assistance with me and my crew today, I did this one for the second time without the company of my better half on Mudder's Day, (Btw, to all mom's out there, Happy Mother's Day). Any one in the Long Island area needs to check out the Sports works website soon, there are two signings coming in June, and one of them is major, major, major at the end of the month. Click here to check it out.
To show anyone who is new to my column what I mean by my quest of meeting WWE Superstars, let me show you a list of stars I have autographs from, in some way, shape, or form.
Triple H, Ric Flair, Miss Jackie, Rob Van Dam, Christy Hemme, Shawn Michaels, Shelton Benjamin, Chris Benoit, John Cena, Randy Orton, Lilian Garcia, Dawn Marie, Kurt Angle, Victoria, Hibilly Jim, Rey Mysterio, Hurricane, Edge, The Sandman, Matt Hardy, Goldberg, Batista, Candice Michelle, Nunzio, Tommy Dreamer, and Crash Holly, may he rest in peace.
