According to some strong sources, it appears Jim Cornette was not simply "taking a break" from his duties in Ohio Valley Wrestling as reported earlier today on WrestleView, but rather suspended for a period of six weeks after a recent outburst at last week's TV taping. Although details are sketchy at this point, Cornette was said to have cut a huge promo on Kevin Fertig (Seven & formerly Mordecai on the SmackDown brand for a short time) for wearing unacceptable attire (a baseball cap) during a tag team dark match when he teamed with Daniel Puder against Kenzo Suzuki & El Diablo (Ken Doane).

As we noted in the story earlier, Tommy Dreamer informed numerous workers on the OVW roster yesterday that Cornette would be what was described as "on vacation" for the next four to five weeks and that Dreamer would be overseeing the weekly OVW TV tapings that takes place ever Wednesday in Louisville, Kentucky. Again, it hasn't been confirmed if Cornette was either "suspended" or simply told to take a vacation whether he wanted to or not. For now, it will be described as a "forced vacation" until further information can be discovered regarding the situation.

We hope to have more on the situation involving Kevin Fertig (formerly known as Mordecai) and what caused Cornette to say what he did backstage following the tag team dark match.
