More talks regarding TNA's TV deal situation, notes on WGN's availability
On Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 3:46 PM EST According to reports, there are some circles within TNA that expect the company to announce a new TV deal today, most likely with WGN. Again, this is the word making the rounds at this moment as nothing has been officially confirmed by TNA or WGN regarding the matter. Many are hoping some kind of an announcement is made as the company's website still shows the "Fox Sports Net" logo on the main page for the Impact! program that recently expired this past weekend following the 52 week agreement deal. As of today, the company only has three dates booked which includes the Slammiversary PPV on June 19, No Surrender on July 17 and Sacrifice on August 14. We will keep everyone posted on any breaking news regarding the situation.
In regards to some on the east coast that have lashed out against a WGN TV deal, it should be noted that both the New York and Boston area do carry the station via satellite providers or RCN cable. Adam Lebow did send word for Canadian viewers that WGN is picked up on Bell Expressvu, Star Choice and Rogers Digitial Package in Canada. Expressvu may only carry WGN through a sports package however and not in a general line-up.
As noted a few weeks back, Dave Nelson of NWA Ohio made a bid to purchase the 71% stake that Panda Energy has in TNA at this time. For those unfamiliar with Nelson, he is the owner of the NWA Ohio promotion and owns a number of car dealerships in the Columbus, Ohio area. Nelson recently ran a free NWA Ohio event at the New Straitsville, Ohio Moonshine Festival on May 27 with "Doink the Clown" headlining the show.
