CM Punk and Samoa Joe both in negotiations with WWE -- details inside
On Monday, June 6, 2005 at 3:31 PM EST Both CM Punk and Samoa Joe have publically stated they are in talks with WWE.
In an interview with Slam Wrestling, CM Punk stated he has an offer on the table from WWE, as of last week. Punk said "I've been sitting on an offer for a week and I've been thinking about it, and I think it means the world that I've been given the time to think. They didn't try to rush me into anything - they gave me time to think."
According to several fan reports from ROH recently, it appears that Punk may indeed be on his final run with the company, as the post-match exits of his, almost appear as if they are a goodbye of sorts. During his match on Heat vs. Val Venis, Punk was highly regarded by the announcers, and even put over as a possible young star that will be looked at in the draft lottery.
Many are drawing comparisons to Punk's possible exit to that of Paul London's before signing with WWE. Punk will get his possible final shot at the ROH World Title at the Death Before Dishonor 3 show on June 18th.
In addition to CM Punk, Samoa Joe has also publically stated that he has been having talks with WWE, as well as TNA and New Japan. Joe said "I have not made any decisions, and am exploring all the opportunities I am fortunate enough to have presented to me. Honestly I want to do whats right for me and whats right for the company that would like to use me. I find mutually beneficial business relationships are always better in the long run and finding out where I can best achieve that is the key."
Given the right circumstances, both Punk and Joe will have success where ever they chose to go as their talent is undeniable. The possibility of a second Joe vs. Punk series, this time in WWE, is a bright light for wrestling's future.
