More on Dusty Rhodes' on-air future with TNA and outside involvements
On Friday, June 17, 2005 at 1:03 AM EST To add on the story we had up yesterday on WrestleView regarding TNA's decision to drop Dusty Rhodes from his on-air role as the promotion's Director of Authority, it appears the move was a cost cutting decision. Other reports have stated that removing Rhodes was also a way to distance him from the new TNA booking committee.
The basis regarding this situation rests on the words of a key source who claimed that Rhodes left several messages for Dixie Carter earlier this week to discuss numerous meetings and offers he had pending outside of wrestling. According to that same source, Rhodes' messages were not returned and Rhodes intends on addressing his current situation with TNA once the Slammiversary PPV passes this weekend. From what is being said, Rhodes didn't want to take away from the wrestlers spotlight by discussing his future with the company at this time.
It should be noted that Rhodes was involved with several business meetings in New York City recently and has what was described as a "serious offer" to host a national radio show. In addition, Rhodes has also kept busy with many speaking engagements for The Limited Brands Corporation and other parties who have been interested in having him take part as well. TNA did announce on their official website that Larry Zbyszko would be making an announcement about Rhodes' TNA future during the pre-PPV countdown for Slammiversary this Sunday in Orlando, FL.
