Tracy Smothers shoots on JBL, AWA announcer passes away, and Nash
On Saturday, June 18, 2005 at 1:39 AM EST According to reports, former ECW star Tracy Smothers cut a "shoot promo" against WWE's John Bradshaw Layfield at an independent event for UWA in Alcoa, Tennessee on Saturday challenging JBL to "step up like a man" after his actions against The Blue Meanie at the ECW One Night Stand PPV last weekend. Smothers' promo will air on the promotions television show and was not a worked storyline. For those we are able to go back and see the footage, you can clearly see JBL's attack on Blue Meanie and Smothers stepping in to prevent anything more from taking place. Tracy will be commenting in more detail about this situation on Wrestling News Live this Sunday night at 11pm Eastern/10pm Central.
According to a report in The Associated Press, former AWA announcer Ron Trongard passed away from cancer on Friday at the age of 72. Trongard is a member of the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall Of Fame and the AP article notes how he was once "clubbed on the head" by Andre The Giant. To read the full article, click here. On behalf of everyone here at WrestleView.com, we would like to send out our condolences to the family and friends of Ron Trongard at this troubling time.
