The Blue Meanie was contacted by World Wrestling Entertainment not long ago asking him to come to the SmackDown tapings in Anaheim, CA two weeks ago. Before the show, Meanie met with a few WWE officials that included Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis. Meanie was assured by both that there would be no problems with John Bradshaw Layfield if an angle was to play out on TV between the two following the highly document incident at the ECW One Night Stand event on June 12.

When Layfield arrived at the dual taping two weeks ago, he went into a private room with Meanie and both discussed their issues. According to reports, the word among the workers in WWE was that JBL told Meanie that he didn't deny what happened at the ECW PPV, but that they could put their issues behind them and do business. Layfield's other option was that they could take it to the ring that night and see what would happen between the two. Meanie made the decision to leave their differences in the past as he has said on numerous occassions that he isn't a fighter. Many workers on the SmackDown brand watched the match closely on monitors backstage waiting to see if JBL was going to try and take advantage of Meanie in any way. To his credit, many workers noticed how he went beyond the call of duty to "take care" of Meanie and not do anything that would be looked at as bullying him.

Following the angle on SmackDown this week, many were wondering if it was going to just be a one-time shot involving the Blue World Order returning. It appears the plan as of right now by WWE creative is to keep the characters around and have a go with it to see if it will take off. If the bWo doesn't translate well to a WWE audience, then creative will see it as an experiment that didnt' work out, but was worth trying in the end. Although Steven Richards and Nova (aka Simon Dean) are under deals with WWE, The Blue Meanie isn't, but is expected to sign at least a short term agreement. As he noted in a blog, Meanie is scheduled for the SmackDown tapings next week in Worcester, MA. Meanie working with the company will obviously kill any talks of a possible lawsuit stemming from the ECW One Night Stand incident.
