Hardy backstage at Impact! tapings, former WWE stars & Spike TV deal
On Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at 4:07 AM EST Jeff Hardy was backstage at the Impact! tapings last night in Orlando, FL at Universal Studios. This was the first time Hardy has attended a TNA show since being sent home by the company after missing the Hard Justice PPV on May 15 when he was scheduled to face Raven in a House of Fun Match (Sean Waltman ended up taking Hardy's place that night). Hardy arrived in Orlando later that night and was then suspended and sent home by TNA at the Impact! tapings two days later on May 17. Hardy missing the PPV in May was considered the "last straw" by many TNA officials and the belief at that point was that he would be brought back when his brother Matt Hardy was expected to sign a deal with the company. Now that Matt is back with WWE, there still remains no official word on Jeff's status with the company. It isn't known at this time if TNA officials flew Hardy to the taping or if he showed up himself in attempts to reconcile with TNA management.
Other stars backstage at the Impact! tapings last night included former WWE stars Billy Kidman, Shannon Moore and Chris Kanyon (who announced on his new website that he was coming out of retirement). As reported yesterday, Moore also attended the No Surrender PPV two days earlier.
There was no announcement made to the TNA wrestlers at the tapings last night regarding the status of the reported finalized deal between TNA and Spike TV for this October. According to reports yesterday, an announcement was expected this week unless plans have changed.
