More on TNA's decision not to use Matt Hardy, Jeff update, and Spike TV
On Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 12:02 AM EST - Even though it was rumored that Matt Hardy was going to appear at the TNA Pay Per View event, No Surrender, this past weekend as well all know TNA chose not to bring him in. The rumors were flying about whether or not he would appear with some saying that he was telling people at the ROH show on Saturday night that he was on his way to Orlando, and despite a message on TNAwrestling.com saying that he wouldn’t appear, the rumors continued all the way up to the broadcast of No Surrender. Obviously Matt Hardy did not appear at the event, and in fact was only mentioned by Jeff Jarrett during the pre game show to help put some focus on Rhino who was coming into the company that night. TNA had questioned whether or not to use Matt Hardy and with only mere hours to go before the ppv, they announced that they weren’t going to do so. As had been previously reported, WWE was willing to sign off and allow Hardy to appear, but TNA did not want to work an angle with a wrestler they wouldn’t have had access to again.
- TNA is currently looking at options on how to bring back Jeff Hardy. The feeling is that they should strike while the iron is hot and while his brother is one of the most talked about men in the business currently. Jeff was suspended from TNA after he no showed the Hard Justice Pay Per View event in May with the idea being that he would come back if/when they brought Matt Hardy in. But now that we all know that isn’t a feasible option, TNA is trying to think of ideas on how to use some of the controversy surrounding Matt to bring Jeff back.
- As reported by Adam Martin earlier this week, the TNA/Spike TV television deal is said to be finalized. Although there was some discussion last week that they would finalize the deal and announce it during the No Surrender pay per view this past Sunday, there was what we are told is a “minor legal issue” that had to first be resolved. It is expected that it will be resolved and TNA is expected to have clearance to announce the TNA/Spike TV television deal sometime this week. As previously reported TNA will air on the current Saturday Night Velocity timeslot once World Wrestling Entertainment moves back to USA Network this October.
