Update on Hassan Story Including Possible SPOILERS For SummerSlam

This story will contain the ORIGINAL plans for SummerSlam on the Smackdown brand. Do not read this story if you dont want to know what was scheduled to happen and could happen at SummerSlam.
The original plan for the Muhammad Hassan – Undertaker match this Sunday at The Great American Bash was for Randy Orton to interfere allowing Hassan to get the win and become the #1 Contender to the World Heavyweight Championship. The booking would then have Orton taking on Undertaker as well as Hassan challenging Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam with the idea that down the road Randy Orton would challenge Batista for the Championship. That all has to change now!
As we reported yesterday , UPN has decided that they no longer want the Muhammad Hassan character to air on Smackdown. This prompted WWE.com to release a statement in which they all but said that the character would be done after the match with The Undertaker this Sunday Night. As Adam Martin reported earlier today the current idea is that Hassan (real name Mark Copani) will be sent back down to OVW while they come up with a new character for him.
Whether or not WWE will go with the Randy Orton/Undertaker match at SummerSlam or allow The Undertaker to use his #1 Contendership (since he will presumably be winning the match with Hassan this Sunday) to challenge the World Champion at SummerSlam is not yet known. We will continue to follow this story and update you on Hassan, and the Smackdown SummerSlam matches as soon as we know more.
