DVD Review: 101 Reasons Not To Be A Pro Wrestler
by WrestleView.com Co-Webmaster Ryan Allen...

I recently had the chance to sit down and watch Michael Moody's "101 Reasons Not To Be A Pro Wrestler" documentary. Plain and simple, this documentary goes where Beyond The Mat was afraid to go. Michael Moody's documentary is a shocking look at the life of a professional wrestler. This is the real deal!! No characters and no one writing scripts, just candid one-on-one's with various pro wrestling stars. To all the fans who assume all wrestlers live a life of luxury, this will rock your world. You will see a new side of the people who you used to see on your television sets on Monday nights or those in your local high school gyms. Michael Moody isn't afraid to ask the tough questions about drug use and backstage politics in wrestling. Hear stars like New Jack and Vampiro let it all loose with nothing to hide, and nothing to hold back!

This film features former WWE stars such as Diamond Dallas Page, Shawn O'Haire, Rikishi and Chyna, current WWE star Psicosis, TNA star Konnan, Pro Wrestling Noah and former WWE developmental wrestler The Predator, former ECW star New Jack, former WCW stars Vamprio and Major Gunns (Tylene Buck) as well as Indy stars Babi Slymm and Nosawa. With a cast of characters like this, you get several unique answers and opinions on drugs, politics, unions in wrestling, and so much more!

Some of the other topics include...

  • Rikishi and Shawn O'Haire talking about their WWE releases, and the reasons behind it as well as other WWE backstage stories.

  • Diamond Dallas Page responds to comments made by Ric Flair in Flair's book, as well as his push in WCW.

  • Chyna talks about her WWE release, and her relationship with HHH before and after his affair with Stephanie McMahon.

  • New Jack talks about EVERYTHING! Drugs, letters from fans, unions in wrestling plus more. New Jack is very outspoken and offers some interesting insight into the business. As a special bonus, you will see New Jack almost kill a 70 year old indy wrestler for being so difficult to work with! This has to be seen to be believed!

  • Vampiro is also extremely outspoken and has nothing to hide regarding his thoughts on drug use and backstage politics in wrestling!

  • Konnan gives his thoughts on WWE politics and his views on how Rob Van Dam and Booker T are being held back! As well he gives an interesting answer to what he believes will be the next big thing in wrestling!

  • See the hard work of New Jack and Vampiro behind the scenes making a wrestling video game commercial!

These are just a few of the things you will see in this documentary. A full review would not do this film justice, as it really is something that you must see to believe.

The main feature runs about 3 hours, and you get well over 2 hours of bonus material as well!

Michael Moody's "101 Reasons Not To Be A Pro Wrestler" is
something any fan of wrestling should have a look at. It is a serious and thought provoking look at the life behind the scenes of a pro wrestler.
