SummerSlam Press Conference Notes - Lesnar talked about, HHH/Flair
On Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at 1:15 PM EST World Wrestling Entertainment held a press conference in Washington, D.C. today to promote SummerSlam in two weeks. It was the typical format for a WWE press conference where workers from both RAW and SmackDown would come out and cut a promo on their match at the event. In what was said to be the most exciting promo, Hulk Hogan spoke on his match with Shawn Michaels when Michaels came out and both ended up knocking over the backdrop to make the feud appear more intense.
It was later noted by SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long that tickets for SummerSlam were sold out, but that more tickets were made available for the show this week. Those tickets are only available for purchase at the box office. At this point, questions were taken from fans that attended the press conference. The first few consisted of a fan ragging on JBL who shot back at him with a quick remark. Another question was asked to Vince McMahon regarding WrestleMania ever coming to Washington, D.C. to which McMahon replied that maybe someday that would happen or when JBL became President.
An injured soldier from Iraq also was also given a camouflage hat from John Cena. Another fan asked Hulk Hogan if he would ever wear the World Title again and Hogan said it would be a dream come true. Some tougher questions then started taking place at this point in the conference. A fan asked Teddy Long when Brock Lesnar would be returning. Long blew off the question a bit and said he had no idea. Vince McMahon said that the NFL season would be starting soon and that he doesn't think Lesnar will be there when it kicks off. Batista added that he would love to have a match with Lesnar and that he wants him to come home to WWE. Another fan asked Vince when Triple H and Ric Flair were coming back. McMahon replied with, "Whenever they feel like it, the door's wide open." This is when the conference ended rather quickly as McMahon didn't appear happy answering questions he didn't like.
