WWE announces cancellation of Gulf Coast events, Christian + CM Punk
On Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 7:00 PM EST WWE announced the cancellation of events in the Gulf Coast area due to the recenty tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. Events cancelled include RAW in Alexandria, LA on September 23rd, RAW in Lake Charles, LA on September 24th, SmackDown in Dothan, AL on September 24th, RAW in Baton Rouge, LA on Setember 25th, SmackDown in Mobile, AL on September 25th and TV tapings for both RAW in Biloxi, MS and SmackDown in New Orleans, LA. There is no word from WWE as to where they will run the TV tapings for that week.
It should also be noted that WWE is teaming up with Americares to help drive donations for Katrina victims. More on that can be found at this link. A story has also been added with Ted DiBiase and how his home in Clinton, Mississippi was able to be avoided by Katrina's large path. For that article, click here.
All of the "Captain Charisma" t-shirts for Christian have officially been pulled by WWE. The company does not own the trademark on the phrase and according to one source, the party that does reportedly has a good legal standing that caused WWE to pull away from a fight. It should also be noted that this situation has not helped Christian's backstage morale with WWE at the moment as it has been documented that he has become frustrated with how the creative team handled his jump to SmackDown.
CM Punk is now working out in Ohio Valley Wrestling as he recently arrived to Louisville, Kentucky not long ago. Punk recently added some "farewell" photos to his "livejournal" website. For more, click here.
