Update on Mick Foley & WWE, and why he was close to signing with TNA
On Thursday, September 1, 2005 at 4:03 PM EST As noted yesterday, a story went up on WWE.com stating that Mick Foley had come to terms with WWE on a new deal and that the papers were just being "drawn up" at the time of the article hitting the internet.
In a rather interesting comment, Foley told the "Between the Ropes" radio show last night that he was also very close to signing with TNA right before they debuted on Spike TV next month on October 1st. Foley stated that his deal with TNA would have included him working some matches for the company as well.
As of now, there is nothing official regarding Foley's return to WWE and in what capacity. Appearances on WWE TV are pretty much a given, but whether or not Foley will be taking part in some matches is yet another story to speculate on. Either way, we will keep everyone posted on this situation and send word on any updates WWE provides on their website.
