Ross Report Recap - Internet criticism on Hurricane, Lita rumors, more
On Sunday, September 4, 2005 at 4:12 PM EST Here are some news & notes from the latest "Ross Report" with Jim Ross on WWE.com:
- JR spoke on some of the "internet criticism" regarding the use of The Hurricane and Rosey on RAW this past Monday night. Some people on the internet took offense to the opening lines of The Hurricane's theme stating, "Look out, there's a Hurricane coming through." Ross added in response, "In no way were we attempting to make light of the tragedy of hurricane Katrina by this entrance music or in commentary. That was unfair criticism (nitpicking) in my opinion."
- Ross talked about some reports that have also made the rounds on the internet regarding the Lita-Edge-Matt Hardy situation and how some have over analyzed the rivalry. He added that the reports about Lita being unhappy with the storyline are "backstage hearsay" and quote "Dr. Phil stuff."
- JR put over the addition of Ken Kennedy to the SmackDown roster and that he was someone to watch on the brand.
- In regards to the current tag team scene in WWE, Ross added, "Where have all the great tag teams gone?"
- Shelton Benjamin is expected to be back at RAW this week after missing last week due to oral surgery.
- Ross puts over Kurt Angle's current character and work ethic in WWE at the moment, added that "if he doesn’t win the WWE Championship from John Cena at some point, I will be shocked."
- JR talked about a recent telephone conversation he had with Steve Austin this week. He added that Austin is currently on a structured workout regime and diet and seems ready to step back into the ring in some form on RAW (there are rumors Austin will be at the October 3rd edition of RAW when it returns to the USA Network).
- Ross also talked about a recent phone message he got from The Rock this week and how he is looking forward to some of his upcoming films being released.
- JR talked about how Monday Night RAW is just a month away from leaving Spike TV and returning to the USA Network on October 3rd. He described the move as a positive one and has a feeling that "business will pick up" on that show in a big away.
- Ross closes off the edition answering some e-mails from viewers regarding the next WWE Diva in Playboy, Mick Foley's new deal with WWE, his thoughts on ECW One Night Stand & Joey Styles' announcing abilities, SmackDown's move to Friday nights starting this week and more.
