More information on WWE release of Mark 'Muhammed Hassan' Copani
On Thursday, September 22, 2005 at 12:43 AM EST As reported last night by Wrestleview’s Ryan Allen, Mark Copani, better known as Muhammed Hassan, has been released by the WWE. Click here to read the original story.
Talk in the WWE locker room last weekend indicates that Copani’s departure was seen as only being a matter of time, both by the WWE wrestlers and by Copani himself. After his removal from television, he moved to L.A. to focus his attention on breaking into acting, and had actually been considering requesting his release in recent weeks.
According to one source, Copani was not very well liked backstage, as he did not appear to have a passion for the business aside from seeing it as a stepping stone for him. He had also earned the disdain of WWE management near the end of his run by turning down ideas that, believe it or not, would have been even more extreme than what we saw on television. Management also looked down on Copani’s refusal to report to OVW after being written off of television.
As for the future of Shawn “Khosrow” Daivari, he made his OVW debut last week as “Sheik Daivari.” His personality and performance are well-liked within WWE, so it’s likely that he’ll be brought back up to the big dance when and if the circumstances are right.
