Ross Report Recap: Internet criticism, Ric Flair, Legends and tag teams
On Thursday, September 22, 2005 at 3:01 PM EST Here are some news & notes from the latest "Ross Report" with Jim Ross on WWE.com for September 21st:
- Ross talks about Torrie Wilson's new "small dog" that she has been carrying around with her lately to WWE events. He also mentioned that she is doing a large amount of running lately in prepartion for a marathon.
- JR noted that "Matt Hardy had a real pain in the ass" on Monday after his Steel Cage Match with Edge at the Unforgiven PPV this past Sunday. Edge was also banged up following the bout as well.
- Ross talks about the newly-signed Matt Striker (the former school teacher turned pro wrestler) and how he will be added to the new Deep South Wrestling promotion to polish his in-ring skills.
- JR talks about how some internet feedback on his "overselling" of the 8 Man Tag Team Match on RAW this past Monday night. Ross added, "We have not had too many eight-man tags on TV and with the star power involved and the raw numbers alone in the match, it felt that big to me."
- Ross talked about having dinner with ZZ Top lead singer and song writer Billy Gibbons a few days before the Unforgiven PPV at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill.
- JR mentioned how great it was for many long-time wrestling fans to enjoy Ric Flair's moment at the Unforgiven PPV when he captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.
- Ross mentioned how good it was to see Bob Orton Jr. on Friday Night SmackDown with his son Randy Orton and how it would be great if more WWE Legends were incorporated to future WWE programming. JR also adds that he thinks Michael Cole & Tazz do a "helluva job broadcasting Friday Night SmackDown" and how he is jealous that they get to sit at ringside, while he has to sit so close to the pyro with Jerry Lawler & The Coach.
- JR once again tells the fans to keep an eye on Ken Kennedy on Friday Night SmackDown.
- Rene Dupree is currently out having "umbilical hernia surgery." Ross notes he had the same surgery a few years ago and that the recovery is around six weeks.
- WWE officials have been impressed with 2005 RAW Diva Search winner Ashley Massaro and he current desire to wrestle. JR points out that she has both a strong work ethic and attitude that will allow her to go far in the business.
- Ross points out that he isn't quite sure if the new World Tag Team Champions Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch are going to be fan favorites, but that their title win at Unforgiven will provide them with some momentum. JR mentions how Murdoch has a "unique look" and how along with Cade they are providing a breath of fresh air to the RAW tag team scene.
- JR then closes out the edition answering e-mails about internet rumors involving Shawn Michaels, the WWE Divas, Mick Foley & Ric Flair, the current state of Velocity & Sunday Night Heat after the move to USA and more. To check it out, click here.
