Ultimate Warrior DVD review, WWE promotion, and Big Show on Conan

There is a lot of commentary from the stars of yesterday and today and conveniently all under contract with the WWE. Mean Gene, Eric Bischoff, Christian, Edge, HHH, Bobby The Brain Heenan, Bruce Prichard, Ric Flair, Sgt Slaughter, Ted DiBiase, Hulk Hogan, Jerry “The King” Lawler, Vince McMahon, Steve Lombardi, Jim Ross, Chris Jericho and even the guy that composed Warrior’s music. From the beginning the warrior bashing begins, talent less, stiff, green, unable to work a match, can’t cut a promo, and in the end he might have lost his mind. Bobby Heenan straight up shoots on Warrior about him not being able to work a match, how every other wrestler had to carry him and in the end he just plain doesn’t like him. Overall it was all hype and smart media. My view. Well, you have to do something right to be as big as Warrior was in the 80’s and early 90’s. 67,000 people don’t just chant your name because they have nothing better to do. And he did all of this during Hulk Hogan’s hey day. At a time when Hogan had the wrestling world at his feet, the Warrior was doing his own conquering of fans. Personally I was never a big fan of the Ultimate Warrior but seeing some of the old matches, nothing really special but he had that charisma that the people connected to. Overall a little one sided but still a must see for all wrestling fans.

Normally EB has three television sets suspended from the ceiling showing previews of upcoming games. But when I was getting ready to leave I heard a fimiliar voice, Triple H, so of course being a wrestling fan I looked at the screen, half expecting to see previews for Raw vs. Smackdown 2 or something. But it was an advertisement for RAW moving to USA. It wasn't like the advertisements that the USA Network and the WWE currently has out. It showed mostly Triple H, John Cena with his WWE Title, and a couple of others in a WWE ring. The lights were turned out in the arena except for in the ring kinda giving it the look of one of the old Wrestlemania Intros where they would show the wrestlers in there lockerooms getting ready for their match but in the end, it was a commercial for the WWE moving to USA. It was weird watching it being played in EB Games, kinda like it didn't fit. I figure they're probably just trying to reach out to another audience. It was pretty good though, but all I could think of was... "I wonder how much the WWE or USA had to fork out for that spot."

As Conan introduces Big Show they show a clip of him in action from Raw about a month ago. Anyway when Big Show came out they first talked about his size which Big Show joked around about. The get on the subject of going to Japan for shows and his match with Akebono at Wrestlemania 21 comes up. Then they talked about Big Show's first ever piece of merchandise in wrestling. (It was a WCW action figure) Big Show then takes out his newest piece of merchandise which is a teddy bear that looks like Show (Eugene had one that looked like HBK on Raw.) To wrap it up thay promoted Raw's move to USA this Monday night and how it will be a special 3-hour edition.
