Dave Nelson of WWWA promotion answers to ESPN TV questions, more
On Friday, September 30, 2005 at 12:05 PM EST Dave Nelson of the new WWWA promotion (and the one-time proposed buyer of TNA) was forced to respond to some comments on the company's website regarding press releases that were issued about a TV deal with ESPN and a scheduled PPV event in Orlando, FL at the Hard Rock Cafe.
At one point, news was posted on their website touting a television deal with ESPN. When a fan e-mailed ESPN about these remarks, they received the following statement: "We would like you to know that we did receive your email in addition to a few other emails on this matter. Please know that no one in our programming department has heard anything about this wrestling program, and it is not on our schedule for November. We have forwarded this information to our legal department for their review."
Nelson's response to this was shutting down the website for a period of time and then returning with many statements about how WWWA apologized "for announcing our plans in a way that was unclear to the public." Other notes in the response included that the company was working on getting time on ESPN through Time-Warner Cable and decided to purchase time on UPN in Ohio instead for $10,000 a month for the time being. Nelson is quick to blame the internet for rumors that were false to begin with, althought it is very apparent to those who know Nelson that he is simply trying to cover his tracks.
