Pro's from the Palace (#54) - A TNA "Exclusive" is too elusive for me. |

For the past few columns, I have begun to express my affection for the TNA product. This is a synopsis not of the product of TNA, but of the stupidity of the people outside the talent of the promotion who obviously do not understand the meaning of the word distribution.
For anyone who is a fan of the product, and is collector of wrestling DVDs, you're aware of the "exclusive" box-set that TNA released to Wall Mart exclusively, consisting of the Victory Road, Lockdown, and Turning Point pay per views at a reasonable price. It's called the TNA Anthology: The Epic Set. If anyone is interested to see it, email me, I have the page off the so called Wallmart.com website, I'll send you the link. And yes, the price is indeed reasonable, but that's not what this is about.
Well, when TNAwrestling.com announced it was out, Wall Mart looked at me when I asked about it, and said "What?" I have Wall Marts in 4 locales near me, and if I wanted to get crazy, I could make it 6. All four (I couldn't get crazy for reasons you don't need to know, yet) basically looked at me like I had four heads. So, I waited for the "OFFICIAL" release date. That date came and went.
Still, Wall Mart looked at me like I had six heads, now. In EVERY locale. By the way, for people who don't know, I'm on Long Island, New York.
I saw the item on Wall-mart.com, but honestly, I am not an online shopper. With the exception of ROHwrestling.com, I don't like ordering from the net, because it's just too risky. I continued to check the four Wall Marts near me. Only ONE of them was able to actually pull the page off the website, but all of them basically didn't move, and didn't even have the slightest clue what I was talking about. Also, on a quick aside, throughout this whole thing, we're talking upwards of a month, none of the other four titles TNA Entertainment released have I seen at Wall Marts either. Enigma, Phenomenal, The X Division, and Nevermore, not one.
I made my first call to Wall Mart corporate. I spoke to the district manager in Westchester county. Westchester is about fourty to fifty minutes from my house. It's doable, but when you work nights with three kids, it's kind of difficult to make the time to do it. They told me they had a copy, and they were going to transport it to my store closest to my house, and I should receive a call when it's in to go pick it up. I said, "Cool, I'll be patient, no problem, let's do it." It was three and a half weeks ago.
Even with that on the plate, I continued to look around, and could not find anything, anywhere. Westbury, Massapequa even, East Meadow, Uniondale, and my hometown, nobody had a clue what I was talking about. Within the past few days, I tried to contact Wall Mart corporate again and find this woman in Westchester and determine what happened to my so called transported copy.
Ha!
Ha!
Trying to find something out at a corporate headquarters of any entity is like trying to avoid the iceberg when you're at the helm of the freakin' Titanic. It's a lost cause. However, I was told by the corporate office, ONCE AGAIN, that they would special order the item for me from the distributor, Navarre Corporation, and I should hear from somone as to when the item will end up in my hometown Wall Mart. That was close to a week ago, already. Not a sign.
So, I gave up, and ordered the item from Wall-Mart.com. I even went so far as to ORDER IT WITH EXPRESS MAIL SHIPPING, that's how much I want this DVD set.
The item was ordered on the 24th. It was listed to arrive either on the 25th or the 26th of October. It was "processing" for 72 hours before I got furiious and started calling Wall Mart.com and find out what happened. I was told by those geniuses that the DVD is on "back order hold" from the distributor, and that was the call for the delay. Did I get an email detailing this?
Nope.
Not one. So, now, I'm over the top with anger. I cancel my order, and tell these people that they need to update their procedures in keeping the customer informed of the situation and status of their order. I got form letters as a response from that damn company. So, I went to shoptna.com and asked them. They said something about the back order from the distributor, told me they would forward it to Navarre, but they said the problem "should have been fixed."
I then went to NAVARRE's website. THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THE TITLE LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE AT ALL!
This is pathetic. My hands feel tied, and I am sick. I want the titles really badly. And why am I being such a pest about this box set? The retail price of the three DVDs in this set is $20. However, if you buy them separately, it's upwards of $75. Need we say more? I can't afford to pay $25 a pop for TNA PPV DVDs, for obvious reasons. If I could, I would, for sure, but I can't. So, when this was released, I thought it was the perfect setup. However, I never expected the incompetence of a store to be so prevelant in attempting to acquire this item.
So, here's what I want. I want to know anyone else who has had these problems. I know of a friend of mine in Baltimore, my friend Nike, who found the title, and has it. I don't know of anyone else. Click here to drop me an email about this. I will read them all, I will reply to them all, and I will PUBLISH the replies I get from anyone who has had these types of problems with this stupid Wall Mart and Wall Mart.com in trying to spread the word of TNA Entertainment.
Jeff Jarrett, you ought to be disgusted about this. I am in on of the biggest markets in the world, and I can't promote your product because the store you put it in through ta so called distributor is ruining your chance of spreading the word of your company. It's pathetic.
It's wrong.
Talk to me about this, people. I need to know who else is having this much trouble as I am.
