TNA News & Notes: Bound for Glory, Don West, Chris Daniels DVD, more
On Monday, October 31, 2005 at 11:45 AM EST A new "Bank Shot" column by Bill Banks has been added on TNA's website this week. Here are some news and notes:
- Banks starts off the column noting that the entire TNA staff is back in Nashville after a very crazy last week in Orlando with Bound for Glory weekend and the TV tapings that followed.
- Banks talks about how much of a success the TNA Fanfest during Bound for Glory weekend was and how close to 1,000 fans packed the Doubletree Hotel in Orlando. Footage of the Fanfest will be included as a bonus for the Bound for Glory DVD that is scheduled to hit major retailers on January 31.
- The hard work of TNA President Dixie Carter is also mentioned. Banks added, "It’s a true testament to her drive and determination in seeing TNA succeed and give back to the fans, and it provided all of us employees some major motivation to bust our butts for the fans that day."
- Banks notes how New Japan Pro Wrestling President Mr. Simon Inoki was in attendance at Bound for Glory last Sunday and that it looks to be the start of an ongoing relationship between TNA and New Japan. There is also talk of reintroducing the World X Cup Tournament with representatives from New Japaan. In addition, some TNA talent could be working a future New Jana Tokyo Dome show as well.
- Former WCW "Kiss Demon" Dale Torborg was backstage at the Bound for Glory PPV last weekend watching the show as a guest.
- Banks brought up how the entire TNA staff and wrestlers were held up in their hotels in Orlando the day after Bound for Glory when Hurricane Wilma came through Florida.
- Banks mentioned how a majority of the TNA stars were drained and tried by the time the Wednesday iMPACT! taping had taken place last week. Despite this, Banks noted how all of the talent worked at 110% for the fans. Chase Stevens, James Storm, AJ Styles, Sabu, Jeff Hardy, Abyss and Rhino were among the few who were pretty banged up. Banks added, "In fact, the majority of our locker room was more banged-up than healthy by Wednesday, but no one complained – they went out and delivered."
- In something that has never happened before in his broadcast career, Don West reportedly lost his voice after the Bound for Glory PPV, but was fine for the Tuesday and Wednesday TV tapings. Banks added, "I’ve said this in the past, but Don West is a freak of nature whose voice has never gone out on him in all the years he’s been doing television. Doctors are apparently amazed by it as well."
- Banks plugs the big TNA iMPACT! Primetime Special this Thursday at 9pm Eastern.
- Banks mentioned that he is finishing up work on the upcoming "Heaven Sent, Hell Bound: The Best of Christopher Daniels" DVD. The DVD is slated to hit major retailers on January 10 and will feature the following matches:
* Christopher Daniels' debut match in TNA (July 2002) vs. Low Ki vs. Elix Skipper vs. Kid Romeo vs. Tony Mamaluke vs. Jerry Lynn.
* Complete chronicle of the Triple X vs. America's Most Wanted feud that will include their matches during the weekly Wednesday PPV era, their popular 2003 steel cage match, the Best of 3 Series in 2004 and the popular steel cage match at Turning Point.
* Christopher Daniels vs. AJ Styles - Iron Man Match (Against All Odds PPV).
* The Ultimate X Match: Christopher Daniels vs. AJ Styles (Destination X PPV).
* Christopher Daniels vs. Shocker - X Division Title Match (Hard Justice PPV).
* Christopher Daniels vs. Elix Skipper - X Division Title Match (Lockdown PPV).
* Christopher Daniels vs. Matt Bently vs. Chris Sabin - X Division Title Match (Slammiversary PPV).

Bonus footage on the DVD will include Daniels' entrance music, a photo gallery including 100 photos and Daniels' and Jeremy Borash on commentary from one of Daniels' first matches in Chicago's Windy City Promotion back in 1994.
- Banks also mentioned how Christopher Daniels' wife gave birth to their son the night before the TNA Fanfest last weekend and how Daniels only spent a few hours with his son before he had to fly back to Orlando from Los Angeles.
- There are new Jeff Jarrett and AJ Styles t-shirts available on ShopTNA.com.
- Banks then mentioned the departure of former TNA employees Tim Welch and Chris Blechsmidt. There is also a funny story involving cake that Banks talks about when the TNA staff said goodbye to Welch.
- TNA is still working on a deal to provide live streams of their monthly Pay Per View events on TNAwrestling.com to international fans outside of the United States, Canada and a few other countries. The service is slated to be available some time in February or March.
