Steve Austin refuses to take part in Taboo Tuesday; Batista to be used

During WWE Monday Night RAW last night, it was announced that the originally scheduled match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Coach at Taboo Tuesday would no longer be taking place as Vince McMahon came out stating that Austin suffered "an accident" over the weekend that would prevent him from taking part in the event later tonight.

McMahon then awarded Coach the win via forfeit and announced he would instead be facing someone from the SmackDown roster at Taboo Tuesday. It turns out that individual is SmackDown's World Heavyweight Champion Batista (they had teased Funaki earlier in the segment who was beat down by The Coach and the returning Goldust and Vader who are now Coach's new hired hands).

The reason for this whole situation coming about was that WWE management had booked The Coach to get the win over Steve Austin at Taboo Tuesday with help from the also returning Mark Henry. When Austin was told of this plan and that he would be doing the job to Coach, he refused. Austin also discovered that the company had no intentions of bringing back Jim Ross at this time despite how the storyline was progressing on television. So in the end, WWE made a quick decision to replace Austin with Batista and now Batista will face The Coach with Goldust & Vader in his corner tonight at Taboo Tuesday where the stipulations of a verbal debate, arm wrestling or street fight can be chosen. There was no mention made of the earlier stipulation involving the status of Jim Ross' storyline announcing job. We will have a full report from the show very soon.
