Pro's from the Palace (#56) - Picking the Votes: Taboo Tuesday PPV Picks
On Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at 2:11 AM EST It's time yet again for the Palace to try and pick a pay per view. This one may be really difficult to forecast, but hey, I'm a gambling man, or at least, I'd like to think so, so let's give it a shot. WWE has been a little bit crazy the last 24 hours, so this pay per view may be a little more nuts than originally anticipated.
TABOO TUESDAY
Fulfill your Fantasy Battle Royal for the Women's Title
Trish defends against Victoria, Ashley, Maria, Candice & Mickie James
The stips here are what the divas can wear. I am a fan of all of them, they are all goregous, but the only competitors, for literal sense, are Trish, Victoria, and barely, Mickie. I doubt that they would go down the Gail Kim road and give it to Mickie, which leaves it down to Vickie and Trishie. Ok, lame.
I voted lingerie, by the way, for the stip. I know my wife is gonna kill me for that, but hey, I am who I am, and that's all who I am, I'm Popeye the sailor dope. Ok, winner time.
WINNER: Trish Stratus
EUGENE & A legend of the fans choosing vs. ROB CONWAY & TYSON TOMKO
Ain't this rich? The feud is between Conway and Eugene, with the legends sprinkled in, yet Tomko again gets added on like the goat boy we all know him to be and loathe. Is it possible that WWE could change this PPV any more 24 hours before it happens? Anyway, does anyone really think that the three legends who are up for the vote can provide some significant assistance for Dinsmore in this one? It's obvious this feud is to build up Conway for an eventual run at title contention, more likely the IC title, but who knows. I honestly don't remember who I voted for, but let's call it as we see it, Kamala is the one who I wouldn't mind seeing. He always scared me a little bit. Not to mention the fact seeing Steve Lombardi come down as Kim Chee one more time is always a classic scenario. Either which way, it's pretty obvious who's coming out on top on this one.
WINNERS: Rob Conway & Tyson Tomko
What a cheap way for Tomko to end up in the win column.. Can you say "release papers?"
RAW vs. SMACKDOWN
EDGE & CHRIS MASTERS vs.Two Smackdown Stars of the fans choosing
I like the brands feuding. I like it. It adds some zing to a zing-less product. This, though, makes ZERO sense from one perspective. For Chris Masters, any experience is a positive, as he has grown in his work with Flair and Michaels, and he continues to grow, day in day out. For Edge, well, let's see, he was supposedly in contention for the WWE title, until they decided to book him in this ridiculous charade with JBL? Isn't Edge supposed to be a heel? Just tell me, is Edge a heel or a tweener, or a soon to be face? Because if he's going face to go up with JBL, I am going to puke my guts out. Hopefully, and I normally don't wish bad things on anyone, but hopefully, this injury has some validity to it, and we see Edge take a hiatus for about the next, um, who knows, six weeks? Wow, I'm not bitter, much.
WINNERS: Smackdown
3 Faces of Foley Match
MICK FOLEY vs. CARLITO
Can we draw a parallel here? I remember prior to Wrestlemania 20 Mick Foley being involved with a feud against an up and comer, who was Intercontinental champion at the time, and it culminated in a hardcore match when Cactus Jack beat up Randy Orton for a good long time, but ended up losing the contest. Fast forward a year, and now Foley is back, as possibly Cactus, Mankind, or Dude Love, against another up & comer, a former Intercontinental champion, and someone who will gain a lot more from a win over a legend like Foley than Foley would by winning over Carlito. Has the hardcore legend become a jobber for the new blood? It's sad, but I really believe that Mick Foley made the biggest mistake of his career resigning with the WWE. He should've signed with TNA, and stayed with ROH. I obviously voted for Cactus in this one, but one way or another, I think Carlito is going to win. He has more to gain.
WINNER: Carlito
BATISTA vs. JONATHAN COACHMAN (w/GOLDUST & VADER)
Seeing Vader in itself is a treat. Goldie is always one of my favorite characters. But, this little trio revolving around the scrawny little pencil neck geek Coach? Come on. I would much rather, if this one had to go down the way it is going down, nice job Austin, I would rather see Vader face Batista. At least, there, you'd get a battle worth seeing. This one is so predictable, it's scary. I wouldn't be surprised to see an attempted fix by WWE with regards to the stip. 2 to 1, the fans wanted a street fight between Austin and Coach, before these new players came in to the mix, but now, it's sad to say, I think Batista is going to fall on this one. Can he get through Vader? It's obvious he can take out Coach and Goldie, but Vader will be a test for the big man. I can see WWE fix this stip vote to make it easier for Coach to win, perhaps a verbal debate, or something to that effect. I think this match has turned in to one major league cluster blank. I am surprised Vince still booked it, even after Austin's latest temper tantrum.
WINNER: God, I hate saying this, JONATHAN COACHMAN
But, you know what? Batista, for what you said about TNA, maybe this is the price you need to pay. Who knows?
Triple H vs. Ric Flair
Is this for the Intercontinental title? It says so in the ads. But it doesn't on the web. Someone figure this out for me, and let me know when I wake up, ok?
Ok. Flair is still cut, as we saw from the footage from the press conference, so how quickly is Trips going to open him up like a bad apple? By the way, it's pretty obvious this one will end up in a cage, although I wouldn't mind seeing Triple H try and come up with a submission move to counter the Figure Four. Anyway, this one is going to be bloody, this one is going to be brutal, because Triple H can bring it. I only hope for Flair's sake, he can take it.
WINNER: Triple H
WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
CADE & MURDOCH defend against The Losers in the WWE title match poll.
It's reported Kane has a broken back. He looked pretty damn good last night on Raw. If Kane is as seriously hurt as they say he is, I would suspect WWE will manipulate it to get Kane in the triple threat, so that he can be "taken out" of the contest quickly enough with as little punishment dished out as possible, leading to HBK & Big Show facing off with the World tag team title holders. All three of the combinations that could face Cade & Murdoch are formidable opponents to say the least, but I have a feeling WWE is trying to portray the champions as the foundation for what they hope to be a newly reformed tag team division. Although the other significant tag teams they have, Hurricane & Rosey are now gone, and the Heart Throbs got squashed like bugs last night by Kane and Big Show, so maybe I am wrong on that theory. Anyway, it's just a miracle to see a tag team title defense on a pay per view. Hell, why not, I'll go out on a limb, and say HBK & Big Show upset the champs, and are the new World Tag Team title holders.
WINNERS: HBK & Big Show
Triple Threat for the WWE title
JOHN CENA defends against KURT ANGLE & KANE
Well, truthfully, it's either Kane, Big Show, or HBK, but based on what I just went through, I think Kane will win the poll. He will not be much of a factor in this one, as I suspect his injury is significant. It'll end up being another Cena/Angle face off, and this time out, I think Cena will figure out a way to prevail. I don't really know how else they can pan this feud out between the two former Smackdown stars, and I think Edge is getting ready to take the next plunge at the Doctor of thugonomics. One thing that is liable to come out of this one, when Cena does win, is WWE is liable to have one very pissed off Olympic champion, who is reportedly frustrated as it is, already. This projected loss will be even more fuel to add to a smoldering fire.
WINNER: John Cena
Outside of their current World title holders, there seems to be a lot of chaos in WWE right now. Vince better get control of his own house, quick. Who knows what's liable to happen next.
