On December 6, World Wrestling Entertainment and its attorneys filed a motion for a temporary restraining order and injunction against former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in the United States District Court of Connecticut.

News of this comes days before December 16 where it was originally thought that a settlement conference would take place between both Brock Lesnar and WWE. According to the motion, WWE has requested that the court prevent Lesnar from continuing to wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Lesnar, who currenty holds the IWGP Championship, was scheduled to wrestle twice this weekend at TV tapings and then appear at a scheduled New Japan event on January 4, 2006 in what was described as New Japan's final Tokyo Dome card.

WWE's request notes that they would like the court to prevent Lesnar from making any appearances associated with any professional wrestling organization, making any more agreements with New Japan and from continuing his current breach of their "settlement agreement" that Lesnar signed back in March of 2004 when he left WWE to pursue a career in the National Football League. WWE has filed a 25 page Memorandum explaining their current position in requesting the injunction and restraining order.

In the Memorandum, WWE notes that when Lesnar was deposed on November 21, he was quoted and admitted to beginning to compete for New Japan without waiting for the court to make their ruling on his current lawsuit against WWE and that WWE's settlement agreement with him was infact enforceable. It was also mentioned that comments in Lesnar's deposition regarding his initial appearances for New Japan and his relationship with the company conflicted with prior statements made by Lesnar's agenet David Olsen to WWE and the court in the past. The overall statement states that Lesnar not only deceived both parties, but that he ignored the judicial process as a whole.

WWE also later claims that Lesnar made a verbal agreement to return to the company back in July after meetings in Stamford, CT with Vince McMahon. Despite this, it was noted that Lesnar still met with New Japan President Simon Inoki in Minnesota to negotiate a deal. WWE notes that they learned in the November deposition that Lesnar backed out of his WWE verbal agreement after signing a deal with Inoki International, Inc. for New Japan and that Lesnar never informed WWE he had done so prior to the deposition. WWE also took serious issue with New Japan referring to Lesnar as a "former WWE Champion", saying that it was playing off WWE's own intellectual properties.

It was made clear by World Wrestling Entertainment that they could reserve the right to pusue legal action against New Japan for their role in Lesnar's current situation as well. It was yet again stated that all of this was "in defiance of Lesnar's signed contractual agreements with them and in defiance to the court." WWE has invited Lesnar to explain his actions in front of the court as to why he agreed to wrestle for New Japan and enter into contracts with the company, ignoring his signed agreements with WWE and the legal proceedings that Lesnar initiated in February 2004. As of now, Lesnar's legal councel has yet to respond. Lesnar is currently booked to apear at this week's New Japan TV tapings on December 10 and December 11. His appearances could be in jeopardy pending the court's decision. Although at one point things appeared to be wrapping up, a planned settlement conference has already been pushed back to 2006, so we may not see the end of this for quite some time.
