P2PLive.net Recap for Wednesday May 3rd, 2006 – Written by Captain Canada

Hosts: Joe White & Rick Hendrickson

This week P2PLive.net welcomed ECWA and Super 8 Promoter Jim Ketner and TNA star Low Ki, now known as Senshi.

First up P2P Live welcomed Jim Ketner. Jim discussed how well the Super 8 went. From the luncheon for past winners such as Low Ki and Petey Williams, to the actual event Ketner said it went very well. He thought the show was very strong. He told the show eventually ended with Davey Richards defeating Charlie Haas to win the 10th annual tournament. www.ecwaprowrestling.com

When asked about Davey’s injury Jim said he tore his meniscus but not at the Super 8. He will only be out for a few weeks. Davey has also received a ton of offers to work other indies since winning the Super 8 tournament. Jim said this is a typical occurrence.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated was discussed as they had their entire staff there at the tournament. PWI has done thorough coverage of the Super 8 tournament. Super 8 is the only indy event where PWI brings their entire staff to the show. Also there is an article that is being written that will correlate the Super 8 tournament and WrestleMania which should be out soon.

Super 8 tournament DVD’s are on sale at RFvideo.com as well as the box set which includes all 10 shows.

ECWA has an upcoming show of a Night of Unusual Matches. One that Jim particularly looked forward to was that of Ooh Lala vs Low Ki. This show will have "wacky" match stipulations and match ups. Jim finds it a good way to diversify the product after the Super 8.

Ooh Lala was developed by Jim Ketner. He had an Irish gimmick which did not suit him well as his ring work was solid however his charisma was lacking. After a year Jim decided that he should turn heel however this failed horribly. Jim said the gimmick was created by reading the TV guide while in the restroom. He saw a movie on the Fight Channel that was called Ooh Lala. He laughed at it and the feeling he got from it was that it could work perfectly for this character.

Other matches were run down on the card which can be seen at ECWAprowrestling.com The event is on Saturday May 19th in Newark, Delaware.

When asked about WWE repacking talent Jim says it does not bother him and that it is their business and by just being given the opportunity to work for the biggest promotion, repacking should be expected.

Jim prides himself on having ECWA a family promotion with no blood and tables and plunder.

When asked about ECW returning Jim said in the long run it will be good for wrestling as it will give young guys more of an opportunity to crack into the big time. When asked if it may hurt the calibre of guys to work ECWA or Super 8, Jim said he is not concerned but understands that other promotions may be hurt by it.

Be sure to check out ECWAprowrestling.com for all your ECWA needs. Also P2PLive.net has a show with Jim prior to the Super 8 tournament which can be found in the downloads section.

Next up P2PLive.net welcomed TNA’s own Senshi who also goes by Low Ki. Low Ki says he glad to be back with TNA. He enjoyed his first stay so he is happy to be back.

When asked why he changed his name to Senshi, Low Ki said that TNA asked him to take a new approach. Senshi is Japanese for warrior or fighter. Ki said he had no problem changing as his style is still the same just with a new moniker. When asked if he’ll keep using Low Ki on the independents, Low Ki was not sure as the Senshi name belongs to TNA and he is unsure if they’ll allow him to use it on the indies or overseas.

When asked about his Lockdown match, Low Ki said he was glad to wrestle Christopher Daniels. Low Ki said it was hard to adjust as he had never worked in the 6 sided ring before and to add to that there was the cage which he was unaware of until the day of the show. Although it was a challenge Ki felt the match was satisfactory but admits he is his toughest critic.

When asked about his work in Japan Low Ki said he started in 2002 and he had dreamed of working in Japan and was thrilled when the opportunity presented itself. He liked working with Spanky especially when he won his first title on his first tour. Ki felt that by having many of the Japanese promotions competing for him he proved that he was not a flash in the pan and could be very successful in pro wrestling.

When asked if he was offered a spot in LAX with Homicide and Konnan, Ki said he had never been approached about it but had heard talk that it was possible in the past. Ki does like working with Homicide and would not mind teaming with him.

When asked if he had a favourite moment from his previous time with ROH, Ki talked about his match with Kenta. He says although it stands out he feels it was not his best work. Again Ki mentions he is his worst critic but in the end praises Kenta for being a great competitor and athlete.

When asked about his striking style by a P2PLive.net listener, Low Ki said he just evolved into that style as in the start of his career he was more of a traditional high flyer but over time has integrated strikes into his arsenal.

When asked about his first stint in TNA, Low Ki said there were no problems except for the fact that he wanted to pursue work in Japan and that is what ultimately brought the first run to an end. When asked if he’ll continue to wrestle for Pro Wrestling NOAH he said he is going on one last tour and then he will work exclusively for TNA.

When asked about ever being offered a WWE contract, if it were possible would he sign with them or even ECW. Low Ki says for now he is under a TNA contract but he always likes to leave open the possibility of working anywhere.

When asked about people that have helped Low Ki along the way, Ki said he learns everywhere he goes. Whether it’s by just listening to someone talk or working on his own he is always trying to improve and get better. He praised Jim Ketner for helping him progress as a professional wrestler. He also spoke of his trainer Homicide who made him work hard and learn a strong work rate.

When asked about potentially facing Samoa Joe in TNA, Low Ki felt it was a bit early to think about such a match. The P2PLive.net listener referred to the strong style matches the two have had at shows like Glory By Honor 1 and whether Low Ki felt the TNA crowd would be receptive to that. Ki felt that in time it may be possible and be enjoyed by the fans but it was his opinion that it is too soon to speculate.

In regards to when we’ll be seeing Senshi wrestle on iMPACT he is not sure as he does not book the shows. In regards to the vignettes, Low Ki enjoyed it. He is not use to filming small commercial like bits but he did enjoy it.

The only other indy show Low Ki will be the ECWA show on May 13th. Then he will finish his stint with Japan and then be exclusive to TNA.

When asked about his experience in the Super 8 tournament Low Ki said it was one of the highlights of his career. He said he was physically exhausted but he remembers the tournament fondly and praises Jim Ketner.

When asked if he watched wrestling while he was growing up Low Ki said he did. He watched WWWF, WWF and NWA among others. The first person that stood out to Low Ki was Great Muta as he was vastly different from the rest of the stars. He also like the wrestlers like Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund and even guys like the Steiners.

When asked if he has ever wrestled Great Muta, Low Ki said they have never faced each other however they have teamed together. He has fond memories of that time and he referred to it as a truly great experience.

Finally when asked where Low Ki would recommend being trained, whether it be in the US or Japan, Ki said it depends. In Japan wrestling is seen a sport whereas in the US it is more of a spectacle and a soap opera. It depends what the wrestler wants in their wrestling career.
