WrestleReunion brings Pro Wrestling Legends to Spartanburg SC for Memorial Day Mayhem

On Saturday night May 27th 2006 at 7:30pm WrestleReunion makes it South Carolina Debut with an event that has been named Memorial Day Mayhem. The Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium has been the site of many great battles under the banner of Jim Crockett Promotions and the old NWA. Throughout the years the names that have done battle inside the Memorial Auditorium are names like Johnny Valentine, Blackjack Mulligan, Ricky “The Dragon" Steamboat, Ole and Gene Anderson and the “Nature Boy" himself Ric Flair. Many of Wrestling's top stars first made a name for themselves in the South and several are returning for this start studded spectacular There is no telling how many times these stars have graced the walls of this building. In the main event Rick and Scott "The Steiner Bros" and Buff Bagwell (all currently appearing on TNA wrestling on Spike TV) vs. former WWE Tag Team Champion Wild Samoan #3 Samu , Samoan Tai and "The Taskmaster" Kevin Sullivan with Special Guest Referee “The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff. This battle marks the rare occasion these days that the Steiner Bros team up and is also highlighted by the return to Spartanburg of Nikita Koloff at one time the most hated man in the Carolina's but who ended his career in the ring as one of the most popular stars of the NWA. When the fans see Koloff they will be surprised to see, he still looks like he could be on top of the wrestling world today. It is always the goal of WrestleReunion founder Sal Corrente who also started his first full time wrestling venture in the Carolina's to bring the fans something they don't normally see, with that in mind he has signed The Birdman Koko B Ware and WWE Hall of Famers Tito Santana and Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka. In singles action Koko B Ware will meet George South Jr, Tito Santana will square off against the veteran LA Stephens and the legendary Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka will meet CW Anderson in one of his last appearances before he returns to the recently resurrected ECW brand being started by Vince McMahon and the WWE. It has been quite some time since the wrestling fans of the Carolinas have seen Jimmy “Superfly" Snuka. All wrestling fans will agree Snuka was the first man to bring high flying to the squared circle; fans will not want to miss this rare appearance in South Carolina this true legend. In other bouts Brad Armstrong will meet "Sweet" Stan Lane when the fans see these two in action it will be hard for them to believe its not 1985 all over again both of these men are in top notch condition and still move just like they did in the 1980's. Another member of the Armstrong Family "Bullet" Bob Armstrong a true legend will face Dr Tom Prichard. Also on the card will be a tag team match between the Scufflin Hillbillies Kevin Kirby and Hunter Thompson as they meet The Thunderfoots who made their wrestling debut at The Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. In one of the other bouts on the card Spartanburg’s own Chief Jay Eagle will meet KC Thunder. In a special ladies tag team match the veteran Bambi who always gives 110% teams up with be lovely Lollipop as they meet Bambi’s long time nemesis Peggy Lee Leather (who was trained by South Carolina’s own Fabulous Moolah) right down the road in Columbia as she teams up with the beautiful Christie Ricci who is destined for stardom in the near future. Other special attractions on the card are long time NWA Referee Tommy Young and WrestleReunion ring Announcer So Cal Val will be returning to Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium as well.
