Early 6/13 ECW on Sci Fi rating; early ratings above expectations, more
On Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 5:38 PM EST There is a few conflicting reports out about the rating for the debut edition of ECW on Sci Fi last night. The Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that show drew a 2.7 cable rating, while The Wrestling Observer reported the show as doing a 2.2 cable rating.
Given that these are still early numbers, you can expect the final rating to be in between the 2.2 to 2.7 range or slightly higher. According to those in WWE, these early numbers are well above expectations. Demographic wise, the show scored a 2.6 rating among males 18-49 and a 3.1 rating among males 18-34. The show averaged an audience of 3.4 million viewers. Again, with these being early numbers, these figures are subject to change.
These numbers were much higher than TNA's current numbers on Spike TV, so expect comparisons to be made all over the internet about that. Although the early number was down quite a bit from the 3.1 rating the "WWE vs. ECW" special drew last Wednesday, it was in the range that many expected. What will be interesting to see is what kind of a rating the show gets next week given the debut episode has been touted as a failure among many in WWE.
We will be sure to pass on the final rating once it is released.
