Pro's from the Palace (#111) - Tell me it is not true. (PPV thoughts)

Now take in to consideration two things before I write what I am going to write.

1. I did not buy the Pay Per View last night. My intention is to buy it on DVD when it comes out, why I do that, simple, MONEY, dude.

2. I am writing this column at 3:30 in the morning.

Ok. With those thoughts firmly planted in your head, I need to address something that I think is going to make the majority of my readers fall down.

How in the hell is Vince McMahon trying to get us to believe that Sabu tapped out to John Cena? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am the biggest adult fan of John Cena probably on the planet, or one of them, but after some of the beatings I have seen Sabu endure, AND NOT TAP OUT FROM, to tap out at that match to the STFU, it doesn't compute ladies and gentlemen. Even when Sabu went in to six sides of steel with Samoa Joe, a man who can be 10 times as destructive as Cena, and he went in with a broken nose and severed finger, to the best of my knowledge, the finish was done via pinfall, because the entire wrestling world is aware of the fact that in order to make Sabu TAP OUT, you gotta nearly kill him.

Does this "feat" vault Cena back in to the main frame for a WWE title shot? Sure, as evident by the vignette later on in the show with RVD challenging Cena for his rematch from One Night Stand for later tonight on Raw. Quick prediction on that one, I would like to see Van Dam keep the title longer, but I still believe Vince is going to separate the WWE title and the ECW title, and I am not going to be the least bit surprised if Cena does win. I'll root for Van Dam now, ONLY TO ALLOW HIM THE CHANCE TO RUN AS CHAMPION because he deserves it, but Cena winning the title tonight is definitely a potential outcome.

Back to the match tonight, I need my regulars who keep in touch with me to validate this opinion. I hate going against my favorite wrestler, but there is no way on the planet with no blood being spilled, and the potency of that hold, (yes, ladies and gentlemen, I took a shot at Cena's wrestling ability), that Sabu was hurting enough to tap out. Maybe there was some form of ailment or injury that caused Sabu more pain than I can realize or imagine, but based on past experience, this result is a farce. Sabu does not know the meaning of the words, "I quit", and to say otherwise would be nearly blasphemous.

Moving on, any opportunity to not see Edge wearing the WWE title is golden in my opinion, so kudos to RVD for keeping the belt, and kudos for him to show some class toward Cena with his guts going in to enemy territory last week on ECW like he did. I also thought, and for once, was proven right, that the IC title needed a little sexing up, and boy, did it get sexed up ever with Melina now clutching that gold for her man, TE3 champion Johnny Nitro. I will be very interested to see how Nitro develops as a singles champion. The question remains however, who goes after him? Carlito for stealing the pinfall or Shelton as a newborn face for losing the title? A definite quandry for WWE creative.

Moving forward, Kurt Angle loses to Randy Orton. Wow. I am surprised by this. I really thought Angle was on a major roll to propel ECW further down the path to respectability. Now, with the score 1-1, there is no doubt that there will be a third match, but the question is, what stips, what rules, and when? Sigh. I would like to see Angle go forward in ECW, not stay stagnant feuding with a RAW guy. The price of fame.

How many retreaded classic superstars are going to follow Eugene as he gets killed by Umaga? And why did AAE stop Umaga from attacking Kamala? At least we would've had a match that rolled off the tongue very beautifully, UMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAGGGGGAAAAAA vs. KAAAAAAMMMMMMMAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAA. Ok, that's a stretch. Literally. But so is the gimmick.

Kind of a predictable way for the Flair vs. Foley action to end, eh? Foley shows little to no wrestling ability, loses the falls, and then bloodies Flair like a ripe tomato. If you ask me, it was too predictable. They need to go at it again, in more of a "fight" style environment. Neither one of these two could go the distance to make a 2 out of 3 fall match a pay per view quality match. It's obvious of one thing, Foley got what he wanted, a stinker.

Lastly, I am thrilled DX is back, if for any period of time. It was pretty damn obvious, however stacked the odds were, that DX was going to win the match. I am SCARED TO DEATH as to what Vince has prepared in mind for DX tonight on Raw. But, can we stop with one thing? I can deal with the sophmoric humor of DX without a problem, ladies and gentlemen, don't get me wrong, but the Kiss My Ass stuff is getting a little old, really fast, in my opinion. The primary question on the mind of this observer from a distance is this:

How quickly did Johnny Jeter, Mike Mondo, Kenny Doane, Nick Mitchell, and Nick Nemeth get schooled in the art of PPV wrestling? I don't care if you put 10 on 2, when the 2 are two bonafide first ballot hall of famers like Triple H and Shawn Michaels, you're ass is going to school, no matter baby face, heel, or tweener, or shovel sweeper.

Lastly, quick Smackdown point to end this piece, I heard bits and pieces of JBL doing color commentary. Damn, does Smackdown miss Tazz or what? JBL is an excellent promoter, and he is a student of the game, don' t get me wrong, but they should've had the man practice a little before taking over for someone who is as schooled as Tazz is. Maybe JBL excels in the long run, who knows, but right now, in the short turn, Smackdown is impossible to listen to. Absolutely impossible.
