PWInsider.com is reporting that the 30 day contract extensions signed by wrestlers involved with MTV's "Wrestling Society X" project expired as of Midnight on Friday. This will allow all wrestlers previously under contract to explore options elsewhere unless MTV informs them otherwise about the project continuing.

It should be noted that several of the wrestlers involved with the project were asked to provide e-mail and fax information earlier this week, so it is possible that MTV is still interested in continuing the project with workers involved with the first TV taping. Some of the talent at the first taping included Sean Waltman, New Jack, Chris Hamrick, Justin Credible, Puma, Matt Sydal, Vampiro, Jack Evans and Teddy Hart. Credible has already signed a new deal with WWE, while Puma is expected to sign with TNA. There has been no official word so far though after the 30 day contract extensions expired.

If MTV does decided to pick up the pilot after the deals expire, it is possible they could simply sign wrestlers to new deals and see what talent would still be interested. Although the idea of taping another pilot has been discussed, it doesn't appear to be likely as the original taping had around a $500,000 price tag. Discussions continue between MTV and Big Vision Entertainment about the Wrestling Society X project. So if MTV doesn't decide to pick up the pilot after all, Big Vision would be free to shop it around to other networks that are interested. The idea within Big Vision was to work out plans for three "season" episodes of WSX.
