NEWS AND NOTES FROM JULY 18th - WEEK 27:
Rod Steel and The Empire were out in full effect tonight for his match against "The 400lb Monster" Torcher. The Empire stuck there nose in the match, and Torcher tried overcoming - but Rod used the numbers game to his advantage and was able to score a pinfall after a low blow.
The battle between Overkill and Damien Angel/Nooie Lee continues to grow every week in ACW. Nooie and Damien had a shot at taking the tag belts off the new champions - but Overkill once again was able to cheat there way into a victory. This war has been well documented in ACW and every time either Damien and Nooie take a step forward - they take 2 steps back the next week, but the dissention between Marcus Hall and Legion Cage (who was MIA this week) might be a fallout for Overkill in the future.
Pretty Fly was out this week to let the fans know that in 3 shows, they'll never see him again cause he QUITS after his contractual agreements are fulfilled. Shayne Swyft was Fly's opponent for the night and started the match off with a classic practical joke (the old snakes in the can bit) Fly took exception to the goofball antics of Swyft and put him down for a 3 count after a hammerlock lariat. Fly has made it clear that ACW has mistreated him for the last time and wants nothing to do with the company after this month.
Eddie Taurus and David Mercury locked horns once again in match 2 in the best of 5 series. This match was more geared towards Taurus style with the no DQ anything goes stipulation but Mercury looked well adapted to the style. Hard kicks, chops and forearms have become a theme in these matches - and tonight was no different as both men went all out - but Mercury was able to score the win after a well placed superkick to the mush. Mercury has taken the lead 2-0 and looks to sweep Eddie T next week.
Bam Bam Bigelow was in the house, and had a few words of wisdom for Sideshow - when you don't win....you don't collect on the cash that is owed to you. Sideshow and the Empire took offense to Bam Bam's "words of wisdom" and came out to collect. With The Empire holding Bam Bam back - Sideshow with a chair in hand, Mosca slides into the ring and makes the save for Bigelow. Bam Bam thanked Ralph, and told Mosca he always had a partner in "The Beast From The East"
Young gunner Toxic looked to overcome the numbers that Torcher couldn't when he faced off Sideshow and The Empire. Toxic took the fight to the "Gothic Thug" with all the fight he could but Sideshow has to much power behind him with The Empire and his veteran ring savvy. Sideshow was able to hit the DP and pin Toxic, but didn't let that end the match. The Empire began jumping Toxic - but Bruce Santee was in the building to make the save!
Bruce Santee felt generous Tuesday night, and decided that since Sedrick Strong was "puking his brains out" in the back, he was going to give the entire Empire a shot at the title. This means that all 3 members of the Empire are eligible in the match at any time - 1 on 1! Bruce was a house of fire, with the only member of the Empire really getting in much offense being Sedrick Strong. Sedrick was close to the belt in the closing minutes of the match, but Bruce was able to roll through a crossbody and hit the Big Dump and retain the title.

DETAILED RESULTS
MCW Heavyweight Champion ADAM FLASH def. CORPORAL PUNISHMENT It was one of the most violent matches in wrestling history. The fans brought all kinds of different weapons to the Fort Meade Army Base Saturday night, including belts with thumbtacks glued on it, stop signs, a beer keg, a Playstation 1, among other things. And that, and more, were used during the "fans bring the weapons" match between Adam Flash & owner Corporal Punishment for the MCW Heavyweight Championship. The match went back and forth, as both men were using everything that wasn't nailed down (steel chairs, trash can, ring full of thumbtacks, etc.).
Adam Flash knocked out the original referee for the match, and then called out his new best friend, Chris Clow, to referee the match. Earlier in the evening, Clow left the "unbiased" world of refereeing, to blatantly cost Derek Frazier a match against Sonjay Dutt. Corporal was able to overcome the odds and put the champion in a pinning position, but referee Chris Clow refused to count the champion down. Upset, Corporal unleashed a verbal attack on Clow, who was not aware that he was about to be physically attacked by Candie, with a steel chair.
With Clow out of the way, senior official D. Edwards came down to call the rest of the match. Corporal & Candie set up 2 tables on the outside, and Corporal powerbombed the champion through both tables onto the floor. But that wasn't enough for the owner of the company, as he & Candie set up 3 tables inside the ring to do more damage on Flash. That's when the champion's backup plan kick in, as outsiders DJ Hyde, Superstar JD Michaels, & April Hunter came out to assist the champion in the ultimate destruction of the owner of Maryland Championship Wrestling. First, Michaels speared Candie through a table. Then, Michaels & Hunter set the tables on fire. And with help from DJ Hyde, Adam Flash was able to powerbomb Corporal through the flaming table and pin him to retain the championship in one of the most intense wars ever.
Afterwards, the champion's new clique celebrated Flash's victory and continued to attack Corporal Punishment, leaving Corporal in a pool of his own blood. The returning Christian York and MCW officials ran down and was able to save the owner from further attacks by the champion and his crew.
Is this feud over? What is the deal with this new faction of Flash, Michaels, Hyde, Clow, & Hunter? What will the MCW owner have in store for his champion on 9/10? And does Adam Flash have an issue with Christian York, since it was York who stopped Flash's gang attack on Corporal?
You can expect answers to these questions and more over the next several weeks here on marylandwrestling.com, and at TRIBUTE TO THE LEGENDS on 9/10.
BRUISER def. JASON STATIC via DQ BRUISER & CHRISTIAN YORK def. JASON STATIC & TYLER HILTON Bruiser & Static went into this match knowing that if Bruiser won, he & Genesis would get a title match against Static & Scott Fowler down the road. What Bruiser didn't know was that TYLER HILTON who come down and interfere, causing a disqualification. Remember, it was Hilton (w/ partner Zach Fury) who suffered most of the beatdown at the hands of Bruiser & Genesis back at XTREME MEASURES in May. Static would join Hilton in the attack, until CHRISTIAN YORK made the save.
Behind the scenes, York & Bruiser are friends. And while the former Cruiserweight & Tag Team Champion has been out of action since Shamrock Cup 2003 (an event that he won, in addition to Shamrock Cup 1999), he has kept in contact with the Bruiser. York was Bruiser's guest backstage. And when Bruiser was jumped by Hilton & Static, York ran out to help his friend, especially since Bruiser's usual partner, Genesis, had been suspended by Commissioner Tara. York decided that now was the time to back a comeback, and offered to team with Bruiser to battle Static & Hilton. Bruiser accepted, and the fans were treated to a great tag team match that featured four men, who usually team with different partners. Still in great shape, York showed no ring rust, as he and Bruiser were able to defeat Static & Hilton.
Will the original stipulation be honored, and will Bruiser & Genesis get a title shot? And will this victory convince Christian York to return to Maryland Championship Wrestling full time? One thing's for sure, fans were excited to see Christian York return to the ring and return to MCW!
JOSH DANIELS def. " DIE HARD" EDDIE EDWARDS, DANNY JAXX, & QENAAN CREED to win the RAGE TV TITLE The Rage TV Championship has always been one of the most prestigious titles in MCW history. Wrestlers who have held that title include: Doug Delicious, Marcus Jordan, Billy Redwood, Joey Matthews, Romeo Valentino, among others. This past Saturday, the title was resurrected and was awarded to the winner of the fatal four way. Each man involved had something to prove. For Daniels, he had to prove that the best technical wrestler in MCW could win gold. Numerous times, Daniels had come so close, but fell short, including a very controversial loss to Julio Dinero at GUERRILLA WARFARE, where many fans felt that he actually should have won the title. For Creed, this was his chance to get back on the winning path, after suffering losses to Steve Anthony, Ruckus, & Derek Frazier in recent months. For Jaxx, this was his his chance to prove that he could be successful in the singles ranks, like he was in the tag team ranks, being a former tag champion. And for Edwards, this was the newcomer's chance to show everyone in MCW what he is made of.
This outstanding match started out with just 2 guys inside the ring, requiring the others to make a tag to get in the match. Things broke down around the 10th minute, as all four men began to brawl. The match ended in controversial fashion Daniels his Edwards with a German suplex with a bridge just as Jaxx hit Creed with a Northern Lights Suplex. Referee Dave McAllister made the count, and awarded the title to Josh Daniels, citing that Daniels' pin on Edwards occurred just one seconds prior to Jaxx's pin on Creed. Daniels was emotional backstage as he celebrated his title victory, while Jaxx was irate, feeling that he was screwed out of the title. Jaxx has challenged Daniels to a singles match for the title on September 10th, and the new champion has accepted. And while Jaxx has several weeks to prepare for the title match, he still can't stand to see Josh Daniels as the new Rage TV Champion, and filed a complaint with Commissioner Tara, regarding the match outcome, and demanded that his commissioner strip Daniels of the title and he be awarded the title. Commissioner Tara immediately dismissed the complaint, and told Jaxx to prepare for his title match with Daniels on September 10th.
THE SLACKERS def. THE HOLY ROLLERS The end of an era! That's what Commissioner Tara would declare as she decided what the third stipulation would be in this best of three gimmick match series. She decided to have a match where the losing team would be forced to split. Then, she would add one very important stipulation. The loser of the pinfall would be forced to retire. The stakes were extremely high for Chad, Dino, Earl, & Rich, four men who have battled each other for over five years. MCW was going to lose one of it's greatest tag teams. The last time this stipulation was used, was on September 18, 2002, when Earl & Rich defeated Joey Matthews & Christian York, ending that team for good.
Both teams, who were former 2-time tag team champions, went all out in this one, especially knowing that for one of them, it was going to be his last match ever. The match ended when Chad & Dino suplexed Earl & Rich off the top rope. The Slackers would then pin Earl The Pearl for the victory, and end Earl's wrestling career. Throughout his career, Earl won the MCW Tag titles on 3 different occasions with 2 different partners (w/ Stevie Richards in 1998, and with Ramblin Rich in 2000 & 2001). Afterwards, an emotional Earl The Pearl, saluted the crowd and honored his friend Brian Howser, aka Shane Shamrock.
Where do The Slackers go from here? And where does Ramblin' Rich go from here? Expect some answers at TRIBUTE TO THE LEGENDS on September 10th.
SONJAY DUTT def. DEREK FRAZIER An explosive match that many felt would decide who would be the top contender for Ruckus and his Cruiserweight Championship. The match was pretty even until, for some unknown reason, referee Chris Clow interrupted official referee D. Edwards' count, preventing Frazier to pick up the win. Clow would then punch Edwards, and then screw Frazier out of a victory, counting his shoulders down, giving Dutt the win.
