CZW presents 'Tournament of Death' July 29 from Smyrna, DE results
On Sunday, July 30, 2006 at 12:45 PM EST Combat Zone Wrestling held its annual Tournament of Death this afternoon in Smyrna, DE outside Bulldozers Saloon before a crowd estimated at 400-500
Tournament of Death first round matches (single elimination, remaining wrestlers advance)
Hardcore Nick Gage vs. Brandon Prophet vs. Andy Summer: Brandon Prophet and Nick Gage advanced when Prophet pinned Andy Sumner following a sick-looking series of faceplants on three chairs.
JC Bailey vs. Lobo vs. Drake Younger: In an upset, Drake Younger and JC Bailey advanced, eliminating Lobo. The finish saw Bailey and Younger both suplex Lobo out of the ring through the demented looking Barbed Wire Spiderweb structure. If this wasn't enough, a light tubes and barbed wire box structure was brought, but with JC Bailey getting deposited through it. Lobo then hit a Death Valley Driver through light tubes, but was kept from getting the pinfall when BLKOUT (Ruckus and Robby Mireno) interfered and laid out Lobo to further the BLKOUT vs. "Forefathers of CZW" storyline. JC Bailey then covered Lobo for the pinfall.
Necro Butcher vs. Brain Damage vs. Toby Klein: Brain Damage and Necro Butcher advanced over Toby Klein - Lots of insane weapons. They brawled through the crowd. Damage hiptossed Klein off the roof of a truck through stacked tables. Necro slammed a computer tower over Brain Damage's head. All three did the potato punches sequence that Necrobutcher usually does in his matches. Brain Damage finally pinned Toby Klein for the elimination.
Danny Havoc vs. DJ Hyde vs. Zandig (with special referee Maven Bentley): In a surprise, DJ Hyde and Danny Havoc eliminated Zandig...together. All concerned had fun with various light tube concoctions...then the weedwhackers came out...first with DJ Hyde and Danny Havoc grabbing weedwhackers. Zandig's son came out with a weedwhacker as well.....Then the turn that no one saw coming as special referee Maven Bentley turned on Zandig by cutting his "skullet" ponytail, followed by Hyde and Havoc nailing Zandig on the stomach with their weedwhackers and both covering him for the pinfall.
Post-match Zandig's son nailed Bentley with a light tube shot. Zandig's son was laid out by Hyde and Havoc, and they started to cut HIS hair. Fans were throwing bottles at the ring. Zandig made the comeback to help his son and pressslammed Havoc out of the ring onto Hyde.
Non-tournament matches
The nicest thing that can be said about the matches is that they ended. The crowd crapped on these non-tournament matches bigtime.
Tournament of Death second round matches (double elimination, remaining wrestlers advance)
Brain Damage vs. Brandon Prophet vs. Necro Butcher vs. Nick Gage Everyone concerned brawled into the crowd from the beginning. at the onset. This was difficult to describe since so much was happening outside the ring, and of course everyone was standing, which meant most people had a hard time seeing much of the match. Eventually, Necro Butcher pinned Brandon Prophet for the first elimination. Brain Damage and Necro then got into another Potato Punch segment, with Brain Damage knocking out Necrobutcher and scoring the pinfall. Brain Damage and Hardcore Nick Gage advanced.
The crowd was not happy about this one, as they wanted to see Necrobutcher go to the final at least, and the next match had a tough time getitng the crowd back into things until the sick finish sequence.
DJ Hyde vs. Danny Havoc vs. Drake Younger vs. JC Bailey: JC Bailey did a double stomp off the top onto Hyde, who was trapped in a nutcracker kind of getup of a ladder with light tubes inside on his chest. Bailey then pinned DJ Hyde and eliminated him.
In another charming moment, the remaining wrestlers had fun squeezing lemons into each other's cuts from light tube shots During all this, JC Bailey hit Drake Younger with a barbed wire ladder. Havoc then hit Younger with a German Suplex while holding a light tube across his throat. Bailey rolled up Havoc inside a series of light tubes (lighttubes connected to one another and rolled up into a roll) and hit a double stomp off the top onto the rolled up series of light tubes.
In the single sickest move of the day, Drake Younger hit a top rope CopKilla (yup, a top rope Copkiller) on Havoc. Oh, and did I mention the light tubes that were set up on a ladder that was in turn placed on two chairs while he was hitting the move? can we also say zero room for error with this move?
Mercifully, the move went off without turning Havoc into a quadriplegic. JC Bailey then scored the pinfall on Havoc. JC Bailey and Drake Younger advanced to the finals, putting over Havoc bigtime post-match.

Tournament of Death final: Light Tube Ropes, Fans Bring the Weapons Death Match
Hardcore Nick Gage became the 2006 Tournament of Death winner over Brain Damage, Drake Younger, and JC Bailey
Brain Damage was the first eliminated by pinfall by JC Bailey, after a trademark Bailey double stomp off the top turnbuckle thru glass and onto Brain Damage. Gage eliminated Bailey and Younger, after Gage and Younger brawled on top of a rental truck inside the tournament area. Gage then put Bailey and Younger under a pane of glass set up on several chairs that were in turn placed atop several tables and dove off. Gage then scored the pinfall on both men at the same time.
