Kendrick suffers small injury at ECW TV taping, referees & Roberts note
On Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at 2:20 PM EST One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions Brian Kendrick suffered a bloody nose at the ECW TV taping last night in New York City, NY at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Kendrick teamed with London in a match defeating The FBI that took place before ECW went live on Sci Fi.
The new set of referees that worked for ECW last night included Scott Armstrong and James Beard. Armstrong is the son of "Bullet" Bob Armstrong and is a former WCW worker, while Beard worked for World Class Championship Wrestling for a long time. Many members of the old ECW referee group were used this week since ECW was in the Northeast.
WWE had announcer Justin Roberts enter the ring while the lights in the Hammerstein Ballroom were down while a highlight video played of the One Night Stand PPV in 2005. Many ECW fans are obviously upset that WWE made the decision to replace Stephen DeAngelis with Roberts and hoped to prevent any verbal assaults at Roberts by having him enter without many fans noticing. Based on what is known, WWE's Kevin Dunn felt Stephen DeAngelis' voice was annoying and that led to his dismissal from the brand.
