Ring of Honor to unify ROH Title & Pure Title at debut in Liverpool (8/12)
On Monday, August 7, 2006 at 3:04 PM EST Ring of Honor (ROHwrestling.com) has announced that at the promotions debut in Liverpool, Great Britain this Saturday (August 12), ROH Champion Bryan Danielson will face ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness in a title vs. title match that will unify both championships.
Based on what is known, ROH plans to legitimately unify the belts and aren't using this as a ploy to sell more tickets for the event. The match is scheduled to be contested under Pure Wrestling Championship rules (a title can change hands on a DQ or countout, three rope brekas allowed per wrestler) with no time limit.
ROH has also announced that in the event of a double DQ or double countout, the match will be immediately restarted. Ring of Honor is scheduled to bring over 13 members of their regular roster and feature many British stars that have competed in the promotion previously such as Doug Williams and Jodie Fleish. Pro Wrestling NOAH stars are also expected to be on the card. Members of ROH's front office such as Cary Silkin, Gabe Sapolsky and Sid Euck will also be in attendance at the event as well.
Thanks to Jason for passing on word about this.
