Picks time for TNA Hard Justice tomorrow night on Pay Per View.
GAIL KIM vs. SIRELDA
It's 2006's version of Chyna! I have not seen Jaime D (Sirelda) compete, but she looks like she could literally swallow Gail Kim whole. Kim is obviously a talented competitor, but her frail, and it is, frail physique is always a detriment to her, and I think this will not be an exception. I think Kim will win, with the help of her buddies, but Sirelda may get in some decent punishment . Either which way, this has absolutely no business being on a PPV card, but that's just my booking opinion.
WINNER: Gail Kim
ERIC YOUNG vs. JOHNNY DEVINE
I remember reading a while back a blurb in Samoa Joe's live journal praising Eric Young's work. I can see why. Eric is the gnat you can't get rid of. Yet, when you shoo at him with the fly swatter, and you hit, you feel sorry about it afterwards. Young has the mike skills to be a major player in whatever division he seeks. I think he is taking the don't fire Eric thing just a bit on the far side, but it still does have some legs. Devine has found a small niche with Alex Shelley and Kevin Nash, but in this particular contest of former Team Canada stablemates, if the other members don't get involved to try and spite Eric Young, Young should win. He has more to gain than Devine. Devine can handle the loss and still keep his slot in the storyline. Young, if he loses, is done, and I don't think TNA is prepared to shelf a talent like this.
WINNER: Eric Young
BROTHER RUNT vs. ABYSS
This is a shock. No Team 3D on the card, but little Spike (Runt) makes the card vs. Abyss. I'm not surprised at all at the booking here, as Runt has the rep of taking down the giants all over the world. However, here, Abyss has a lot more to lose in credibility if he falls to Runt, especially when it comes to the NWA World Heavyweight title. There are pretty much three guarantees in any match involving the Monster Abyss and a member of Team 3D.
Pain. Tables Thumbtacks.
With that being said, unless the boys help out their little brother, he's in trouble here. Give the win to Abyss, but don't be surprised to see Runt vault from this loss in to the X Division to try and garner a singles title.
WINNER: Abyss
Winners get a tag team title shot MATT BENTLEY & KAZARIAN vs. THE JAMES GANG vs. THE NATURALS vs. AMERICA'S MOST WANTED
It's kind of funny. AMW is the underdog here. Bentley and Kazarian have a small push going with the Coolest's return to TNA. The James gang have a destiny to the NWA World Tag Team Titles, there is no way TNA reformed the James Gang without that long term destiny in their sights, and the Naturals are garnering a major push with the Franchise in their corner. With all that being said, and Jarrett not being available to interfere for obvious reasons, AMW I think have the least likely chance of winning. I don't know if this is an elimination match, but let's just get right down to the nitty gritty of it all, and say that the Naturals get their push extended with a surprise upset here and move forward to face the NWA World Tag Team Champions.
WINNERS: The Naturals
Winner gets a shot at the X Division Title KEVIN NASH vs. CHRIS SABIN
I'll be brutally honest with you. Seeing Kevin Nash try to compete with anyone who is the holder of the X title is worth its weight in gold bouillon. It would also end this storyline of Nash trying to prove that size does matter. I think Sabin is the type of athlete to let the company come first, and with that being said, I think he'll bow to Nash at this particular point. Nash is going to have to work for it, and work his big ass off, but the sheer shock and awe of seeing the 7 footer go against either Senshi, Petey Williams or Jay Lethal would be just too good not to pass up.
WINNER: Kevin Nash
Falls Count Anywhere RHINO vs. MONTY BROWN vs. SAMOA JOE
I like Rhino's new focus. I really do. Monty Brown disgusts me. He has shown little to no improvement since I first started watching him in TNA. With all that being said, if you can't see that this is Joe's eventual springboard match to the NWA World Heavyweight title, then you're just blind. Joe takes out the War Machine and the Alpha Male in their type of Serengeti match, and then vaults up and over the rest of the competition, and that is some damn vault, to meet up with the winner of Jarrett vs. Sting for the title. If you're going to be unbeaten in 14 months, what else is left to do?
WINNER: Samoa Joe
X Division Championship SENSHI vs. PETEY WILLIAMS vs. JAY LETHAL
Congratulations to Lethal for making an impression on TNA big enough to be booked in this match. I would think however, since Petey won a match to get this title shot that this three way should make the former Team Canada captain angrier than a pit bull with an empty stomach. With all that, I would suspect that you'd see a blossoming Williams/Lethal feud come out of this match, and the champion retain in the process as well. Why? Well, it's quite simple ladies and gentlemen.
Who else wants to see Low Ki stomp the living crap out of Kevin Nash besides me?
I see the rest of the known world raising their hands.
Enough said.
WINNER: Senshi
NWA World Tag Team Championship AJ STYLES & CHRISTOPHER DANIELS vs. THE LATIN AMERICAN EXCHANGE
Here's the ever fateful truth in my opinion, and it's a one sentence answer. Konann wrestles, LAX has a chance to win the titles. Konann doesn't wrestle, they're done. Konann and Homicide together can beat Styles and Daniels in my opinion, however good I think AJ & the Fallen Angel are as a team. I do not trust this goon Hernandez as far as I can throw him, and I think Daniels and Styles will bend this big goon like a pretzel. Homicide will shine in this match, because TNA needs him too. But, the champs retain, leading them down a path to the Franchise and the Naturals in the near future.
WINNERS: AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels
NWA World Heavyweight Championship JEFF JARRETT (w/Scott Steiner) vs. STING (w/Christian Cage)
One year ago, Tito Ortiz wore the black and white striped shirt to ensure no interference for the Hard Justice NWA title main event. Now, one year later, and if you don't see this one delving in to a cluster f, then you're blind again. Cage turns on Sting, because Cage is a better heel than a face, no question about it, Joe gets involved and takes out Scotty Steiner, leading to Joe facing off with Jarrett beginning the feud to lead to Bound For Glory, where the Samoan Submsision Machine wins the NWA World title. Neither one of these two men should be the World Champion, they've done their time. As Joe said at ROH last week, he and Styles are the figure heads of this company, minus a couple of the old bastards. Let's get the old bastards out of the way, and let the new blood take the gold and run with it. Jarrett retains to eventually lead to the showdown in Detroit.
WINNER: Jeff Jarrett
OTHER THOUGHTS AND RAMBLINGS
I am anxiously waiting and parousing the ROH boards to find out who wins the unification match between World title holder Bryan Danielson and Pure title holder Nigel McGuiness. It's kind of ironic that I was able to witness one of Nigel's last matches as pure champion vs. Delirious last week. They both put on a show. Even though I think Nigel is a poor man's John Heidenreich from his appearance, it's obvious he can go in the ultimate of fashions, and I am insanely curious who ROH is going to be putting the banner of the only singles champion in the company.
From the looks of things, but its not official yet, we have a winner in the ROH Unification match. I'll keep from posting it, but it is a bit of a surprise to me. Which, honestly, makes me happy, because there seemed to be an obvious course of action to take from a booking standpoint in this situation, and if ROH did in fact go the way I am hearing, then I am thrilled, because it keeps the unpredictability going, which is why I like this company so much.
I was asked about my opinions on Smackdown in the recent weeks by a friend of mine on Myspace. While I have not watched the show due to its ridiculously bad timeslot, I have to say that I am excited by the new blood being shown on the blue and white, even if it is at the expense of a lot of talent that have paid their dues to the WWE. Idol Stevens, KC James, Elijah Burke are three men from OVW that can handle themselves in the ring with the best of them, and they should make a significant impact on Smackdown, in a big hurry. I am not so sure on Sylvester Terkay, but I am going to reserve judgment until I see him compete in person. His appearance, however, well, um, next.
I am terrified of this new feud with Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero. Not from the fact of these two men trying to beat the high holy ever living crap out of each other, but from the use of the Guerrero family, especially Eddie's wife Vickie. Mrs. Guerrero, I sympathize with your situation, I do. I can't even imagine what you're dealing with day in day out.
But....
Remaining involved in WWE as you have seemingly done, in MY OPINION ALONE, is cashing in on your husband's name, and I think that's not proper. His legend should remain as untarnished as possible. I am going to stop there because honestly, if I continue, I may lose my job.
Moving on. Question: Do we know anything about tag teams ladies and gentlemen? It appears WWE has forgotten them all together. While I love the fact that Kendrick and London have been champions as long as they have, there is literally nobody out there to challenge them. Kash is out on suspension, which takes the Pit Bulls out of the equation. It looks like Jeff Hardy is going to Raw, from what I heard this week, and that is just plain silly, but that also takes out another possible equation. Let's discuss the Jeff Hardy thing for a minute, now, shall we?
Jeff Hardy resigns with the WWE. Good for Jeff. I am happy for him. I hope his demons and his internal turmoil has subsided. I can relate to that statement, all too well. I hope his addictions and his dependencies have been controlled. If Jeff Hardy has a renewed passion for wrestling, he can be a major player on whatever brand he is brought to, although I think it's absolutely ridiculous that he would go to Raw, where there is the perfect niche for him on Smackdown reuniting with his brother, if only for a short term to challenge for tag gold. It's a good move for all parties involved, because Jeff was getting smothered in TNA from lack of use, and WWE needs a resurgance of talent in a big hurry.
Checking out Wrestleview before closing this piece out, there are a few things that need to be addressed. First off, I love the fact that the major talents of WWE are being sent to Louisville and Georgia to compete for their developmental territories. And, its obvious, as seen by Big Show beating RVD for the ECW title at DSW last night, and Ric Flair coming to Deep South on September 9th. Also, Dusty Rhodes teaming with his son Cody in Ohio Valley is another big step for WWE in a national scale, I would consider.
I'm tired of Orton vs. Hogan already, and Summerslam is weeks away. Hogan is 50 something, his knee is messed up, it's not messed up, I don't care. I can't stand this whole thing, it's petty, it's stupid, and it takes away from the younger stars that WWE DESPERATELY needs to blossom up on all their brands. Orton's calling out Hogan on Monday night. Big deal.
Big Show is behind Umaga in the Power 25? I know it's just content for the fans on WWE.com, but if Edge can whine about not being #1 one week, how about Big Show coming to Raw and challenging Umaga? Wouldn't that truly justify Umaga's place in main event caliber matches, instead of riding the McMahons coattails?
Ric Flair vs. Mick Foley in an I Quit match at Summerslam. Wow. Foley has to pull a major league rabbit out of his hat to get this job done, I would think. It's intriguing, to say the least.
Batista goes for the World title that he never lost at Summerslam. I don't like either of these competitors, so picking this match when the time comes is going to be uber difficult for myself, thank you very little, WWE.
Good luck to ROH stalwart Jimmy Jacobs in his match tomorrow night on the Hard Justice pre show. I hope TNA takes a good luck at him, and perhaps brings him in for a deal. He has a Bruiser Brody style gimmick which is terrific to watch. He also has the reckless abandon mentality that could succeed within TNA. Also, Austin Aries is set to return to TNA as Austin Starr. Forgive me, but "Austin Starr"? Jeez. How corny can you get?
It appears Goldberg is set to talk seriously with Spike TV and TNA. It bothers me again to see the younger studs of the company get passed over for the big names and the big money, but Goldberg would give TNA a MAJOR PUSH for a second hour of television, and perhaps a better slot than thursdays at 11pm. Whether or not it does occur is a mystery to me, but I can't be negative against Goldberg, for reasons I can explain elsewhere. It's the right move for TNA from an exposure standpoint, but it may begin to be problematic down the line if it does transpire for some of its younger figure heads.
Ok. I'm done.
