Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3 on Spike TV to go head-to-head with ECW on 10/10
On Monday, August 14, 2006 at 3:47 PM EST On October 10, Spike TV will be presenting a live edition of UFC featuring Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock 3. UFC made the decision to run this match for free as opposed to throwing it on another pay per view card considering how fast the second fight ended in July. Shamrock has claimed the fight will be his last and that he will announce his retirement shortly afterwards.
What makes this "newsworthy" on wrestling website is that this event will be going head-to-head with ECW on Sci Fi. While it is safe to say that ECW ratings on Sci Fi have been much larger than some of the numbers UFC has hit on Spike TV, given how big this fight was heading into July and how large the PPV buyrate was estimated to be, it would be surprising if WWE completely ignored it and didn't try to "load up" the ECW show.
