In one of their more hyped shows in the promotion's short history, Pro Wrestling Unplugged returned to the ECW Arena last night. Here are the results:

  • In an incredibly short bordering on squash match, Mercedes Martinez won the PWU women's title from Sumie Sakai

John House then came out and introduced a highlights video of Hayabusa (with match footage from the TokyoPop FMW DVDs) on the CZWtron.

In a incredibly moving moment, Hayabusa then came out in his wheelchair on the ramp to a loud reaction from the crowd. In what we could make out in English, Hayabusa said "I am Hayabusa" and "Thank you", then sang a song in Japanese to accompany some of the remaining hightlights footage. After the song ended, Hayabusa received a full crowd standing ovation.

  • Afa Jr. defeated CJ O'Doyle and a person whose name I couldn't make out in a handicap match.

  • The Krash Krew defeated Johnny Kashmere and Pete Hunter (with Simply Luscious) in another match that bordered on a squash

  • Amy Lee defeated Mickie Knuckles in the Women's First Blood match, after Ian Rotten comes out and hit Mickie Knuckles with the single hardest sounding chair shot I've ever heard in the ECW Arena. The chair shot causing Knuckles to suffer 'first blood' and lose to Amy Lee.

  • In the wildest and best received match of the night, the SAT retained their PWU Tag Team Titles over All Money is Legal in a ladder match with chairs, with all the sick and inventive ladder spots you'd expect from these two teams.

  • Gary Wolfe defeated Z-Barr via DQ after Z-Barr used Wolfe's Pitbull chains on him. Post-match, Wolfe challenged Z-Barr to a dog collar match for September 16. In one of the three surprises of the evening, Z-Barr was managed by former ECW referee and longtime referee Bill Alfonso. Post-match, Tod Gordon came out and beat down Alfonso.

  • In what was surprising to more than a few, Devon Moore defeated Trent Acid and 2 Cold Scorpio to become Pro Wrestling Unplugged Heavyweight Champion, after pinning Trent Acid (thus leaving Scorpio losing the belt without being pinned, which may have been done for storyline...or because of the usual other reason a third party is introduced into a title change like this) is the new Pro Wrestling Unplugged Heavyweight champion. The finish saw Devon Moore running in after a visionary pin, and and did a standing Shooting Star Press to steal the pinfall.

In the worst kept secret in Philadelphia wrestling of the last two days, Sabian and Joker did a post-match run-in. They've been removed from the CZW "Stars" page, which would be a major loss to CZW, given that they're the CZW Tag Team Champions (yes, there will be the out for CZW of BLKOUT collectively defending the belts ala The Freebirds, but still...). Someone at the show desscribed it as being equivalent to when the Four Horsemen and the NWA lost Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson to WWF.

  • In the main event/3 panes of glass (the fourth pane of glass was dropped backstage)/Taipei Death Match, Corporal Robinson defeated Ian Rotten to become PWU Hardcore Champion by pinfall in a sickening, bloody mess, even by Ian Rotten standards.

Post-match, Ian Rotten took a shot at CZW, saying that the PWU Hardcore belt will be defended on an upcoming Indianapolis, IN show "with the men of IWA Mid-South" and not with the "boys in CZW". He then suckered Corporal Robinson into the ring under the guise of a handshake, and double arm DDT'd him on the PWU Hardcore Title.
