Big Show at ECW event then to Raw, Raw replay issue and ECW tonight
On Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 6:00 PM EST PWInsider.com reports that WWE's corporate jet was very busy yesterday, making a total of five short flights in all in less than 24 hours. One of the more high profile passengers last night was ECW Champion The Big Show. Shortly after Big Show defended the ECW Title against Sabu at the ECW House Show in Poughkeepsie last night, Big Show jumped on WWE's jet and headed to Atlantic City for Monday Night Raw. The jet had been sent to Poughkeepsie by Noon yesterday in order for Big Show to make the TV taping.
Although the replay was touted as starting at 11pm ET last night, Monday Night Raw's replay ended up airing closer to 12:30 last night due to U.S. Open Tennis coverage running longer than previously expected. PWI reported that Vince McMahon was not happy at all at TV last night in Atlantic City to begin with given the one week jump to Sci Fi, so the replay airing later obviously didn't help matters.
The Wrestling Observer reports that tonight's Sabu vs. Paul Heyman main event on ECW tonight was a change made yesterday by Vince McMahon. According to reports, the plans for tonight's show were thrown out yesterday by Vince as he felt the program needed something stronger for ratings tonight. Many within WWE were expecting 25% less viewers to watch Raw last night given the jump to Sci Fi and because less people would be directed to Sci Fi, a decision was made to book a more enticing match.
