Notes from 'TNA vs. AAA' event in Mexico, Samoa Joe injury and Konnan
On Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 4:54 PM EST NWA World Champion Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Abyss, Homicide, Konnan, X Division Champion Senshi, Christy Hemme, Traci Brooks and Jeremy Borash were all in Naucalpan, Mexico this past weekend for the big TNA vs. AAA event. Team TNA ended up winning Mexico's Cup. Borash was filming footage at the event that will likely air on iMPACT! on Spike TV very soon and possibly some angles involving LAX.
According to reports, Samoa Joe had some problems with lingering back pain this past weekend while working for Ring of Honor. Joe reportedly injured himself while working with Roderick Strong for ROH and was said to have been in so much pain that he needed to be walked to his car after the event. He was given a lot of credit for "sucking it up" and working for ROH the next night in New York City and then flying to Mexico City.
TNA held another monthly Spike TV conference call today featuring Konnan. Among the topics discussed, Konnan noted he was close to having to get hip replacement surgery, but has now found a doctor in Mexico that has been able to help him treat it properly. Konnan also said Chicago looks to be a future TNA market and briefly touched on rumors about being removed from the spanish announce table. He also said it was the right time to do the LAX angle given the current political climate in the United States and stated he is not a fan of the current WWE angle involving Vickie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio.
