What caused the power outage at Raw last night, WWE reaction - more
On Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 2:08 PM EST PWInsider.com is reporting that heat sensors inside the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, OK is what triggered power issues for WWE last night at the start of Monday Night Raw. Based on what is known, the heat sensors trigger the fire alarms when it gets above a specific tempature in the building. The initial "shore power" as it was described is hooked into the fire alarm and cuts as soon as the alarms sound. The pyro used by WWE was apparently a lot hotter than expected and set off the fire alarms, causing power to go out in the arena. WWE's power for TV and the production truck were on a different filter, so that is why the transmission of the show on the USA Network didn't fail as well.
WWE.com has added an article about the power outage at this link.
There is also a video interview up with Jerry "The King" Lawler about the incident as well where he gives a ringside perspective at this link.
