WWE Smackdown TV Tapings to air October 13; Jacksonville, FL

The following took place on Tuesday in Jacksonville, FL:

WWE Friday Night Smackdown Tapings (October 13):

- Recap of the No Mercy PPV opened the show.

- Later tonight on Smackdown it will be Batista vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Finlay in a #1 Contendership Match for the World Heavyweight Title. The winner will challenge King Booker next week for the title.

- WWE U.S. Champion Mr. Kennedy came out and talked about how he has beaten everyone on Smackdown. He said he even beat The Undertaker at No Mercy and didn't care how because it was marked down as a win. Kennedy says he will defend his title next and if he wins, he will go to Raw.

- Chris Benoit defeated Mr. Kennedy to become the NEW WWE United States Champion. The finish saw The Undertaker's music play distracting Kennedy allowing Benoit to lock in the Crossface for the win.

- Backstage, King Booker asks Teddy Long to cancel the triple threat #1 contenders match. Long doesn't budge.

- Vito defeated William Regal.

- Backstage, Bobby Lashley says he will not only become the #1 contender, but will go on to become the next World Heavyweight Champion.

- MVP came out and asked for a real opponent for his Smackdown debut. Pyro goes off and Kane comes out. The match never officially gets underway as Kane beat down MVP. MVP raked the eyes of Kane and then ran off.

- Rey Mysterio defeated Jamie Noble.

- WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick & Jimmy Wang Yang defeated K.C. James, Idol Stevens & Sylvan.

- Backstage, Finlay says he will knock Bobby Lashley's teeth in and beat down Batista tonight.

- Batista then cuts a promo about the #1 contenders match, saying he doesn't care who he has to go through to regain his World Title.

- Batista defeated Bobby Lashley & Finlay to become the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title. King Booker and Sharmell were on commentary at ringside during the match. The finish saw Finlay take out Lashley and then Batista hit the Batista Bomb on Finlay to get the win. After the match, Batista and King Booker have a stare down.
