For Immediate Release:

Professional Wrestling returns to the Washington Avenue Armory in downtown Albany, New York for the first time in nearly 25 years!!!

We are pleased to be able to announce that terms have been reached between the young, upstart, independent MXW Pro Wrestling organization and the Washington Avenue Armory, a mid-size sports arena that served as a cornerstone for professional wrestling in the area from the '50s to the early '80s, and the current home of the Albany Patroons of the CBA (Continental Basketball Association) and USBL (United States Basketball League).

The Armory was a mainstay venue for the World Wrestling Federation, with all available internet research pegging the last appearance in the building as September of 1982. The Armory has been the home of the Patroons since 1982, and once the team began playing there, and on the heels of the WWF's national expansion, they soon moved to the RPI Fieldhouse in Troy, NY for their area events.

Beginning in 1990 when the Pepsi Arena (then the Knickerbocker Arena) opened, The Armory went unused for a decade and a half...until last year, when they started accepting events. Since then, they have been eagerly anticipating the return of professional wrestling. MXW is more than happy to provide a quite worthy event, when we present CAPITAL COLLISION on Friday Night, November 10th. This event will follow the company's critically-acclaimed and much-talked-about July and August events, InterPromotional Incident and GOLDEN QUEST, and be the organization's biggest undertaking to date.

Already announced are two matches that bolster the magnitude of the event, as, according to MXW owner Joel Gertner, "we have always said we're not old school, we're not new school...we're next school. Now we prepare to bring the best next school wrestling, along with revolutionary next school concepts, to an historic old school venue. It will truly be the best of all worlds, and a celebration of everything good about the well-loved sport of professional wrestling."

In one of the evening's most anticipated matches, MXW Co-#1 Contender and Syracuse, NY standout JOSH DANIELS will take on CHRIS HERO, one half of the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions, as well as a co-holder of the Combat Zone Wrestling Tag Team titles and a CHIKARA Campeon de Parejas (Tag Team Champion). Hero will be put to the test in singles competition as he attempts to do his part in the 2-match "Royal Relay" involving he and his partner. Should both Hero and his teammate, Claudio Castagnoli, defeat their opponents in singles competition, they will automatically become the #1 contenders to the MXW Tag Team Championships...a title that has not yet been established in the promotion's history. There is no hit or miss with Chris Hero; people either love him or hate him. As for Daniels, he looks to maintain his strength, position and standing as the tournament for the MXW Championship continues.

In the other match that has been announced as of press time, Hero's partner in their "Kings of Wrestling" team, the Swiss-born CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI, will compete in the adjoining portion of the "Royal Relay" against ever-popular singles standout, and former member of the HeartThrobs tag team in WWE, "The Promise" ANTONIO THOMAS. Castagnoli plans to do his part to earn MXW #1 Contendership honors for his team, while Thomas is the #3 singles contender in MXW, and strives to continue to prove himself as a singles competitor, serious about the sport and art of professional wrestling, and looking to put some of his past behind him and become a master of NeXt School.

A host of top independent wrestlers, from the NorthEast corridor and beyond -- many of whom have competed on national television, will be part of a complete night of action at the Washington Avenue Armory that seeks to, and hopefully will, bring about a wrestling resurgence to New York's capital...the area that is home to the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. The event itself will be taped for television. Representatives at the Washington Avenue Armory are thrilled and delighted to join with MXW to present this stellar live event to the Capital District community and to fans of wrestling from within the surrounding vicinity. Albany is within three hours of New York City, Hartford, Boston, Syracuse, Rochester, New Haven and Montreal (The Northway, the New York State Thruway, Interstate 90, Interstate 787, Interstate 88, and the Massachusetts Turnpike are conveniently accessible to the city).

The building holds over 3,500 fans when configured for wrestling, and the Armory is committed, along with MXW, to making sure people interested in quality professional wrestling and a true, new alternative do not miss out when the event comes to town. They will be promoting MXW's appearance at the well-known and respected venue on their video screens outside, and they will also be holding a joint press conference with MXW in the days leading up to the spectacular. Their event schedule for October and November, beyond MXW, includes concerts by The Strokes, Matisyahu, Black Label Society, Alice in Chains and Angels & Airwaves, to name a few.
Tickets will be available within days at the Armory's box office and through all TicketMaster points and methods of purchase.
