Pro's from the Palace (#136) - Better late than never: WWE & K-Fed??

Sometimes when I think there is a topic that may not get the reads that I would like here, I post it on my myspace blog only. This one got a ton of reads over there, so I'd like to share it with you all here. It's a week old, but the idea still has relevance, especially if you're a fan of Melina & Johnny Nitro, and a hater of the slimeball husband of a pop princess. Anyway, I just want to make sure everybody understands before I start this.

This is MY opinion. Nobody elses. Mine alone.

With that being said.....

I, for one, am not going to be one person that will say much of anything to anybody who plugs away at their merch, trying to get as much of it sold to the general public as possible. I mean, when it comes down to it, celebs have the toughest job on the planet trying to convince John Q. TaxPayer that their product is better than someone else's. I am getting to a point here.

When it comes to promoting, WWE does do a tremendous job. One way or another, they get the word out on any project they hook their greedy teeth in to, and they pound it in to the ground like it's no tomorrow. And more often than not, it's legit. Kane's movie, Bischoff's book, Cena's movie, Keibler on Dancing With the Stars, etc., etc. Even Brooke Hogan using WWE as a platform for publicity may be dumb from a career retrospective, but for the moment, it's the right thing to help jumpstart her career, and especially when her daddy is who he is.

Now, for the but.

Why in the good name of God is WWE promoting Kevin Federline? I have some definite opinions on the validity of Vince McMahon's decisions from an awful lot of standpoints, but I never will say that I have the better opinions, but in this case, in this particular case, how stupid can Vince McMahon be?

Love him or hate him, John Cena right now makes WWE a ton of money. And what does Vince McMahon do? He has Cena get humiliated by getting slapped across the side of the face by this 150 pound soaking wet freak show with so little talent, I COULD rap better than this guy. Come on, ladies and gentlemen, can we say Vanilla Ice II here? But, take that out of consideration, what has Kevin Federline done to prove he can be anywhere on par with the talent in WWE, and what gives him the right, outside of the almighty dollar out of his wife's pocket, to piggyback on WWE's coattails to promote his album?

I'll answer that. Nothing. He's done nothing. He will continue to do nothing. He has shown nothing. He has no talent. He is, in all sense of the words, a worthless celebrity.

One other thing, I read how Federline was saying that "a pop princess" was upset about what had happened to him in Los Angeles last week. Why? She should be thanking Cena, maybe it knocked some sense in to this meatball, getting knocked on his head. I doubt it, but there is a possibility that something like that could've happened, and if so, she should be thanking Cena, not feigning being angry.

Is WWE that desperate to get Cena involved with someone else? Has the well run dry on Raw? The only successful thing this has done is taken Cena's stock as a champion down about five notches. And, it has to, I don't care how much of a company man Cena may be, this has to be irking Cena something awful. To get slapped in the face by this runt of a lowlife that calls himself a human being, and not be able to do anything about it, well, it's gotta sting your psyche in some way, shape, or form, and right now, I don't think WWE can afford to piss off any more top talent. Not with the amount of venom Kurt Angle has been spewing from the Impact Zone lately.

I respect the fact that Federline was on the show from Los Angeles. I don't understand why you would book him, but I respect that he was there none the less. I respect the Jackass boys being on there. L.A. brings out all sorts of wackos and celebs and God knows what. One shot deal, fine, let's do this, and roll with it. But, to hook your claws in to this guy is just plain dumb. Dumb and dumberer in this person's opinion. Which, by the way, is one man's opinion, and one man alone, so don't go off the handle at anyone else but me.

Last week, I boycotted Raw because Federline was going to be on. This week, I couldn't watch it due to technical problems, but again, I would not have taped it because Federline was coming back on. This guy is not a celebrity that should be promoted by a company who's main audience source is children. And this guy walking around with a shirt that says "America's Most Hated". Who's he trying to be? A rapping Mike Tyson?

I'll admit, I'm a sucker for WWE promoted material. I saw the Marine, like I said, I've got a ton of merch from WWE, and I'll probably still continue to get the merch from WWE. But, my opinions of WWE as a whole are tainted significantly because of their association with this guy. He sickens me. And I would have to think that the ratings will eventually show that the audience doesn't find this guy in very high regard either.

One thing, I am writing this not because I am a Cena mark. You all know I am a huge Cena fan. This is not about Federline slapping "Cena". This is about Federline slapping or being physical with ANYBODY. I would say this if he slapped Edge in the face, and Edge probably is the guy I hate the most on Raw. I would say this, Edge would probably low blow Federline if K-Fed slapped him, and that, I would rewind and watch 1000 times again, and again. (It would have raised his stock in my eyes, 10 fold, if that ever could have happened.)

Anyway, WWE needs to get its head on straight. Promoting this jerk is not going to get any positive publicity for the WWE product, and in the meantime, it may be more damaging to the WWE product than Vince McMahon realizes, or cares to realize.

Just one man's opinion, ladies and gentlemen.

Ok, that's it. I hope you find this one thought provoking. I did when I wrote it.
