Pro's from the Palace (#137) - Picks and Voting picks for Cyber Sunday |

There's a lot to write on this one with all the stips, I could go in to some details and opinions on it, and some of the events from Smackdown yesterday, but I'll wait until the end. First, Cyber Sunday pick time.
LANCE CADE & TREVOR MURDOCH vs. CHARLIE HAAS & VISCERA vs. THE HIGHLANDERS vs. CRYME TYME Choice is type of match - Fatal Four Way, Tag Team Turmoil, or Texas Tornado
I like a lot how WWE got a lot of midcarders some action in this pay per view, especially with Haas & Viscera getting a nod over some other potential talent. The stip vote is a unique one, as we have not see a Texas Tornado four way match in some time. I would suspect that could be the victor, but as I would say later on, I think there is a little issue with the voting process. I am going to say that the match picked is Tag Team Turmoil. Why? Because I think that WWE is going to say the 4 way is boring, the tornado match could lead up to too many potential injury situations. Yes, I am saying that I think the vote is fixed. I think the vote, if shown as is, would show a texas tornado match, because I think the general populus likes to see chaos, but I don't think WWE would accept that. Hence, my deduction = tag team turmoil.
With that being said, who's got something to lose here? One team who seems to be getting the push toward the titles, Cryme Tyme. I thought the Highlanders were en route, but they got derailed. Cade & Murdoch got plastered by the DX steamroller, and Haas & Viscera, well, HA, they oughta be happy they're just on a PPV card. With that being said, it's kind of simple where I am going with this pick.
WINNER: Cryme Tyme
Women's Championship Tournament Final LITA vs. MICKIE JAMES Choice is type of match - Submission, Lumberjills, or No DQ
Couple of thoughts here. One. Nice irony that the former champ is competing for the belt again against a former champion, both with heavy ties to Trish Stratus. Two. No DQ match would favor Lita in a huge way, because Edge would more than likely get in the way, and I don't think Mickie has someone available to assist her if the situation got that out of control. Three. I don't know Mickie well enough from a repetoire perspective, but I don't know if Lita could go in a submission match, and that one intrigues me, so I am going to say that could be the voting winner. With that being said, and Lita's pre-eminent departure from WWE for whatever reason coming up sometime this month, I am going to say we have a new champion, and her name is...
WINNER: Mickie James
UMAGA vs. ???????? Choice of opponents: WWE United States Champion Chris Benoit, Smackdown's Kane, or ECW's The Sandman
I would personally love to see Benoit win this, go out and beat Umaga, so that he's taken down a notch, but I don't suspect that would be the case. Benoit has gotten a pretty big push and losing to Umaga would stall that immediately. Kane is coming off a successful run with his brother last night in the tag team decimation of Mr. Kennedy and MVP, and although he has a history with the Samoan Bulldozer, he has nothing left to prove with him, as he fell to Umaga already, and I don't think WWE would have him fall again, especially so soon after the lovely showing the tag match.
The winner of the vote, I think is going to be Sandman. He has the least to lose, and with Umaga's upcoming program with the WWE champion, its a virtual lock that he is going to remain undefeated. With that, Sandman comes out, canes Umaga in the skull, and immediately gets DQ'ed. Win for the Bulldozer, pop for the crowd, Sandman has a beer bash, and everyone goes home happy.
WINNER: Umaga
World Tag Team Championship SPIRIT SQUAD vs. RIC FLAIR & ?????????? Choices of partners: Sgt. Slaughter, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, or "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes
My wife summarized this match is one sentence, "God, they look horrible." She meant Piper, Slaughter, and the Dream. And she's right. As much as I want to see Flair with another belt, and I still think it's going to happen, these guys have no business being in a ring anymore. Slaughter is the one who is the closest to in ring shape, but the winner of this one is definitely going to be the Dream. It's a final present to Dusty Rhodes before he officially retires from the ring as a whole, and waits for his induction in to the Hall of Fame. Besides, who wouldn't want to see the bitter rivals of the 80's and 90's team up for one last run at the top of the mountain taking out a bunch of punk kid cheerleaders who have overstayed their welcome.
It's going to be entertaining. Not technically sound by any stretch, but entertaining. Give the titles to the legends for a couple of weeks, and then have a new team take the helm, more than likely, like I said before, Cryme Tyme.
WINNERS: Ric Flair & Dusty Rhodes
Intercontinental Championship JEFF HARDY vs. ?????????? Choice of opponents: Carlito, Shelton Benjamin or Johnny Nitro
Show stealer right here ladies and gentlemen. No matter how they slice it, it's going to be good. Personally, I would like to see Hardy vs Carlito, but I think Nitro will win the voting again, with a little help from WWE creative. Shelton has had previous experience in this PPV, winning the vote one year and the IC title. However, Nitro and Melina have the push with the whole K-Fed nightmare, and I think that will push them over the top and in to this match. However, Hardy will retain, as Nitro needs to work on his mike skills before he gets another run as a singles champion.
WINNER: Jeff Hardy
D-GENERATION X vs. EDGE & RANDY ORTON Choice of special guest referees: Jonathan Coachman, Eric Bischoff or Vince McMahon
This one is pretty damn obvious, I would think. One thing, how the mighty have fallen. Edge loses the WWE title to Cena, and doesn't get a rematch at the first opportunity, he gets thrown in to this make shift program with Orton against DX. I'm sorry, but Edge has gotta be seething at this booking, because it's just not good. The champion of champions idea is lame, and it doesn't help the brand extension whatsoever, yet, the former champion, who is well deserving of another run at the gold, is getting the shaft as more than likely, next for Cena is Umaga.
Anyway, back to business. The winner of the ref spot is so damn obvious, it's going to be Bischoff. The world wants to see Coach, especially after how DX has abused him, and how he got his ass kicked by Cena last week, but Bischoff has something to sell, and WWE is profiting by it, so Bischoff will get the nod. After that is said and done, the question is, how does DX win? I would be shocked if Edge & Orton win this match, although if they do, the feud continues, and I don't know how or where these four men would go if this program ends. So, it's kind of a toss up. I am going to pick DX because it appears that they are still going to have some juice left in the tanks. I only hope that there's some spunk left in 40 plus year old Shawn Michaels' knee.
WINNERS: D-Generation X
Champions of Champions Match WWE Champion JOHN CENA vs. ECW World Champion BIG SHOW vs. World Champion KING BOOKER Choice of championships to be defended - WWE, ECW, or World Title
Nobody wins here. Why? Simple. When WWE put the WWE title and ECW titles on Rob Van Dam, it didn't work. It was confusing, it was difficult to follow, and RVD did the stupidest thing and got himself arrested. With that being said, I am thinking that the fix will be in here in a big big way. Why? Simple.
1. The WORLD is going to want Cena to lose the WWE title. No question about it. He lost it at One Night Stand in similar settings such as this, and the world pretty much hates Cena and would like to see that happen again. 2. The World title has opponents waiting. I.E. Batista. And 3. I read an article sent to me by email, (I am sorry, I forgot who did send it to me) that Big Show is in a lot of pain, and could be dropping the title soon. Although it is a horrible option for WWE and the ECW brand to have him drop the title in this match, it's the most likely for Big Show to get off the pedestal of the titlist in the brand, and heal up, if that's his course of action, and it would allow WWE to have a transitional ECW title holder while they hopefully get smart and elevate CM Punk's status to that of title contention.
Yes, the Extreme Elimination Chamber is coming, but what does that mean? It means nothing when the champion is basically a walking hospital bed waiting to happen. I don't think a match like this is going to have a non-ending, because it would leave the buyers of this PPV in such a bad mood and with a bad taste in their mouths. With that being said, the WWE and World titles, like I described before, have opponents in the wings. The ECW title may have RVD waiting, but I will be stunned if Vince puts the belt on RVD again. It has to be telling and a foreshadow of unpleasant things to come for RVD if he has already had his title shot reduced to a 1 in 5 chance inside the chamber.
When it comes down to it, the ECW title is going to go off the Big Show briefly while there is some business to be done within that brand. And since Smackdown and ECW is going to tour together, the most likeliest of scenarios, gulp, I can't believe I am going to say this, is the Royal Ruler of the Smackdown kingdom will come out of Cyber Sunday as a double champion.
WINNER: King Booker
That oughta surprise you guys, that I didn't pick Cena.
Quick notes in closing. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the Undertaker & Kane tag match from Smackdown last night. Kudos to Mr. Kennedy and MVP for taking the shallacking they did, and making it look good. Kennedy is a star in the making. No question about it. MVP, show me more, and that ring attire is God awful.
Lastly, this voting thing, its a good idea, but I really think its skewed. If you look at the history of this PPV when it was introduced as Taboo Tuesday, there's always been "questionable" voting decisions. I think we're going to see more. And that, ladies and gentlemen, depresses me deeply. I wish WWE would listen to its fans.
