Pro's from the Palace (#142) - Survivor Series Picks & Dreamer comment
» Reported by Mike Siciliano of WrestleView.com
» On Sunday, November 26, 2006 at 12:03 AM EST

I was going to come on board here now and give you my picks for Survivor Series, but I'll be damned if I am not going to make a comment about this latest "review" by WWE with regard to some of its content on ECW.com, specifically, Tommy Dreamer's column.

I read Dreamer's column that is under review. Ladies and gentlemen, Tommy Dreamer speaks the truth. I believe that in my heart and soul. The veterans that have paved the way for the wrestling business to this point should be given the respect they are rightfully deserved and have earned from day one of their respective careers. Is there problems with that philosophy? Sure. But there are problems in every day life from the word go as a whole, anyway. What does it matter if you are inconvenienced slightly in a show of respect to a colleague who has had a career you could only dream of at this moment? And why would WWE find it in their meager little moronic hearts to put the heat on Dreamer for saying something like this? This column should be taken to every wet behind the ears rookie in all three brands locker rooms with the words,

READ NOW. BEFORE TAKING YOUR NEXT BREATH. THANK YOU.

Ok. Soapbox over. Pick time. WWE Survivor Series on sunday night in Philadelphia.

WWE Women's Championship
LITA vs. MICKIE JAMES

In Lita's final match, she defends the world title from the woman she won it from at the end of the tournament to fill the vacancy when Trish retired at Unforgiven. Are they going to do this twice? As tremenedous a career as Lita has endured, she is not going to get the same reaction Trish Stratus got if she is allowed to leave WWE as the Women's Champion. Unless they intend on vacating the belt permanently, this one is pretty obvious, Mickie James is the new Women's Champion as the division continues to dwindle in talent level to a precipitiously severe level.

WINNER: Mickie James

WWE United States Championship
CHRIS BENOIT vs. CHAVO GUERRERO

First, Benoit gets screwed every time I think he is in the beginnings of a long title reign, even if it is a secondary title like the US strap. This time out, I think Chavo will figure out a way to screw Benoit again. Chavo is high off putting Rey on the shelf, and Vickie will never stop gloating if Chavo is walking around with a title around his waist. Especially one like the US title. Chavo winning the title here keeps the feud going, while Benoit retaining almost deflates what has been a lukewarm beginning to a feud in the first place. Yes, two title changes, but hey, this is a major PPV, and WWE has to catch up to TNA's hot potato belt possession law.

WINNER: Chavo Guerrero

That hurt, by the way. I am a huge Benoit fan, but I still pick Chavo.

First Blood Match
UNDERTAKER vs. MR. KENNEDY

Initially when this match was booked, I figured the winner out and the prize. A chance at the World title. Now, with the new news that 'Taker has a rib that looks like a cheese grater, I think things are different. I still think the winner will get a world title shot, but now, it may not be for a while. I also think now Kennedy will go over in this match to set up a potential feud for the title, and when exactly all depends on the outcome of the world title match, which I'll get to in a minute. With this new mystery with the Taker's ribs, I would be shocked if he is able to stand up to the punishment of this type of a match.

WINNER: Mr. Kennedy

World Heavyweight Championship
KING BOOKER vs. BATISTA

Is WWE going to keep the charade going? I have to think not. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am picking three title changes in a WWE major PPV. Why here? Simple. I think the winner of Taker/Kennedy is next in line. I don't think that the Taker will draw against Booker T. By picking Kennedy like I am, I also don't think that Kennedy will draw against Booker. Taker would draw against Batista, but not as much as Kennedy, since Kennedy has a win already against the Animal. Put this all in a pot, stir it up, and the result says...

WINNER: Batista

Unless of course, WWE cops out and does another DQ finish, which wouldn't surprise me.

Classic Survivor Series Elimination Match #1
KENNY, NICKY, MIKEY, & JOHNNY of the SPIRIT SQUAD w/Mitch in their corner vs. RIC FLAIR, SGT. SLAUGHTER, DUSTY RHODES & RON SIMMONS w/Arn Anderson in their corner.

I am sorry that Flair and Piper had to lose the tag belts so fast due to the injuries from the Rowdy Scotsman. One thing for sure in this match, this one will be bowling shoe ugly. I am still trying to figure out the logic of having these legends compete, but if they can do it one more time, God be with them. I would think this will be the swan song for the Spirit Squad, and thank God for that. All of them could use a refresher course as to the meaning of Tommy Dreamer's D.o.V. entry from last week, but that's another story for another day. Expect either Flair or Simmons to remain as the sole survivors of the match and a win for the legends.

WINNERS: Ric Flair, Ron Simmons, Sgt. Slaughter & Dusty Rhodes

Classic Survivor Series Match #2
JOHN CENA, ROB VAN DAM, SABU, LASHLEY & KANE vs. BIG SHOW, TEST, FINLAY, UMAGA & MVP

Ok, I have to say this about this match, first and foremost. ECW relaunched back in June, sometime after One Night Stand. Since June, which is only five months, Cena fought RVD and Sabu in NASTY ECW style matches, and now, five months later, he is captaining a team with both of them on it? Come on, does WWE think our collective memory is that short? Now on to the match, Umaga and Big Show are the biggest worries for Team Cena, but Finlay is liable to cause some damage. I would suspect Test, MVP, and Lashley to take the fall relatively early for each team, leaving the captains, Finlay, Umaga, Sabu, Kane, and RVD. Umaga will take someone out with him, more than likely either Sabu or Kane, I'll say Kane for arguments sake, leaving Finlay & Big Show vs. RVD, Sabu & Cena. Big Show takes out Cena to makee it really interesting. John Cena & Rob Van Dam vs. Big Show & Finlay. By now, though, Big Show is worn out, and Cena wins the match for his team, as the more than likely sole survivor, simply because Cena is in better shape than Big Show, injury wise.

WINNERS: RVD, Sabu, Lashley, Kane & John Cena

Classic Survivor Series Match #3
D GENERATION X, CM PUNK & THE HARDY BOYZ vs. RATED RKO, GREGORY HELMS, JOHNNY NITRO & MIKE KNOX

First. I am a huge CM Punk fan. This is where Punk gets out of the shadows and becomes a playa. Mark my words. This match, when it was announced, made me almost want to buy the PPV. Almost. I will buy the DVD because of this match. Why? Simple. I need to see DX, the Hardyz and Punk team up. This is as good as it gets from a booking perspective. Punk and Knox are feuding, albeit Punk is kicking Knox's ass, Punk can go with Helms, Nitro, or even the World tag team champs. The Hardyz have scores to settle with Helms, Nitro, AND Edge giving some extra oomph, and I know for fact that Trips wouldn't mind taking a chunk out of Melina's boy or Helms just for kicks and giggles. This one will be a war, and well worth the price. I am gonna stick to my guns and say DX and Punk are the final survivors.

WINNERS: DX, CM Punk & The Hardy Boyz

This card has the possibility to be very good, or very bad. There is no middle ground. I only hope the powers that be in WWE creative allows its talent to do what it does best. Steal the show.
