Smackdown stars Todd and Michael Shane (better known as Jake and Jesse Gymini) have been released by the WWE. The duo had been out of action after Todd Shane suffered an injury. During that time, Simon Dean (who managed the Gymini tag team) was placed in charge of the WWE developmental division.

The Gymini's were previously slated to return to TV, but it never happened. As of late, they had been wrestling dark matches on Smackdown. Most of their time in WWE had been spent in Deep South's Wrestling developmental territory.

Also released by WWE was David Heath, better known to WWE fans as Gangrel. Heath, originally was supposed to serve as one of the supernatural characters that the Sci Fi Network wanted. Heath reportedly was not in the shape that the company wanted him to be in, so he was sent to Deep South Wrestling developmental territory. Eventually, Kevin Thorn and Ariel were used for as supernatural characters.
