On Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 3:37 PM EST The following was transcribed by Andy J. of wrestlingweekly.com:
On February 13th, Wrestling Weekly hosts Doc Young and Les Thatcher were joined by Josh ’Jug’ Raymond of Wrestling Society X. Wrestling Weekly airs every Tuesday at 8pm Eastern at www.wrestlingweekly.com.
Wrestling Weekly is also carried by www.audiowrestling.com, www.wrestlingradionetwork.com, and www.wrestling-radio.com.
Doc & Les were joined by this week’s featured guest, one half of ‘The Trailer Park Boys’ Josh ‘Jug’ Raymond.
Les begins by talking about the first time he saw Josh work was at Doc’s show and that he was impressed by him. Doc points out that Raymond works alongside ‘Spyder’ Nate Webb and Josh says that Webb is a high energy, happy guy and one of his closest friends in the wrestling business. Les asks Josh Raymond about how long he’s been in the business and who he started out with. Raymond replies by saying he’s been a pro-wrestler for four years now and was trained by Frankie The Face and then taken under the wing of Ring of Honor’s Jimmy Jacobs. Doc and Josh then talk about Jimmy and his gimmick in Wrestling Society X and highlights that Jacobs is one half of the D.I.F.H (Do It For Her) tag team. Doc then talks about Josh’s match on Tuesday’s episode of WSX which is against M-Dogg 20 and Teddy Hart. He then goes onto talk about working a match with M-Dogg which he said was very good and discusses Teddy who he calls an interesting character and has a future in the business. Les states that Raymond is used to calling his matches in the ring and he had to make the transition to the matches being more choreographed in WSX. Josh discusses how in WSX he had to highlight what he was doing in the ring and when, further emphasising the choreography of his matches. Les points out there’s an art to putting matches together in the ring.
Les then asks about the WSX audience. Josh Raymond states they seemed like wrestling fans, they were hyped and he enjoyed their reactions. Les asks if the promotion surrounding Wrestling Society X has generated more bookings for Josh on the independents. Raymond says no and jokingly asks promoters to call him but goes onto to state he’s was contacted a few weeks ago and there was a possibility of going to Mexico. Josh Raymond highlights that he’s a versatile wrestler and really likes the Lucha-Libre style and used to watch Lucha tapes which his girlfriend recorded for him. Doc points out Josh’s debut match from WSX was on the internet show ‘WSX Xtra’. Raymond points out that Johnny Webb is great, has a great mind for the business and helps out so much. He talks about the match which is against D.I.F.H and it’s his favourite match he’s done for WSX. Doc asks Josh about his ’Trailer Park Boy’ gimmick and discusses working alongside Nate Webb which he highlights is fun. Raymond goes onto mention that Keith Lipinski helped him get on to WSX and Lipinski told MTV that Josh was great and should use him. Raymond talks about the formation of his gimmick where he had a hair vs. moustache match which resulted in him having some of his hair cut. Professor VNS in the chat room asks why MTV dropped the Abercrombie name. Josh replies by saying originally he wasn’t going to use the Abercrombie name and that he got the name because he wore a shirt by that clothing brand. MTV wanted him to be Josh ‘Jug’ Skinnered originally but he stated it was too much of their character in the name so he decided upon Josh ‘Jug’ Raymond instead.
Another question from the chat room; who is the ‘her’ in Do It For Her. Raymond states that her can be any girl and that D.I.F.H are basically ‘heartbroken sad boys‘ as it’s there Emo gimmick. Josh then is asked about stories from the road. Raymond talks about a story where he stopped traffic. Doc points out that Josh Raymond has a done a lot of work for IWA Mid South and asks if Josh will still be working for the promotion. Raymond states he hopes so and that he’ll be there on the 23rd February or will be down in Mexico. Doc tells the fans to check out Wrestling Society X which airs Tuesdays at 10.30pm ET/PT on MTV. Josh thanks everyone for watching WSX and thanks Doc & Les for having him on the show. Les wishes Josh Raymond the best of luck.
